I have a new question: Does the infill operation only have to happen once if you are doing stereo/rocking images, or will the infill operation take place for each new image for the stereo/rocking set?

it can be pretty hard to see dust spots in out of focus areas of an image, but once it is in focus the spot becomes very visible. Hhmm... In my experience it's the reverse: isolated spots are easier to see in out-of-focus images and become difficult to see when they overlay focused detail. To be cl...

I am planning on experimenting with this tonight, but I have an initial question. How does zerene handle the mask compared to other frames that are getting aligned? Is the mask aligned to the first image, or last image, or something else? Also, it can be pretty hard to see dust spots in out of focus...

Looks like a circumflex with hook, used in Vietnamese. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/ể My guess is there was some software bug or corruption that happened during the production of the book, and L and O got merged into the wrong character. If one cared enough, you could likely track down what the ch...

I always try to do photos of spiders live, so them having a transparent body is often times a challenge. I imagine if you were successful in "knocking her out" you would still have the same issue(maybe to a lesser degree though). I took a video of one spider some time ago https://streamable.com/gkuy...

eBay didnt really handle that well at all. Maybe the credit will stay, as payment for having to deal with their CS department
I pulled the funds out of my Paypal account anyway just in case.

Maybe some deconvolution methods would do...although don't expect miracles I've not yet tried this approach but I remember Rogelio Moreno results and discussions: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=134788 http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21618 Another thread ...

Re: Manual flash directly from LiveView with EOS 500D

This might be what's happening, but it seems the camera CPU should be on an interrupt driven trigger rather than in a long slow software checking loop. As I recall, only live view behaves this way, while the triggering for a "normal" shutter has a much more predictable timing window. So it wouldnt ...

Re: Manual flash directly from LiveView with EOS 500D

Hi, However, the delay between pressing the shutter and the start of the exposure varies greatly; is too irregular to synchronise this with firing the flash reliably. Rik described the problem in detail in on older post: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13726 In his measurement...

We've just changed the system to a wired camera trigger that should allow mirror lockup. https://github.com/BioMakers/Gametophyte-Fern-photography-2018/blob/master/Engineering.md When I say "we", I mean my husband did it. :-) If you enjoy the process of building the software and everything then go ...

Are you saying that with a specific IGBT device, its variation of turn off time can cause output variation? One day, I will build a circuit with a IGBT or some one who has time to do so, then measure the time difference between when it is NOT gated and when it is turning off, take maybe 100 samples...

I suppose that shifting the start of the pulse with a relatively fixed cut off time would have the exact same clipping effect on the power levels. It makes intuitive sense that that the bulb would have shot to shot variability as well, due to heating and other factors. Still would be nice to have a ...

My conclusion is that they are just not that good at low power settings. Granted that I am typically using 1/64 to 1/32 power. The reason seems to be random. Low power exaggerates the problem. The E640 specs +/-1/10 stop at 1/128 power and above and +/-2/10 of a stop at 1/256 power for this very re...

Thanks Rik, that was what I was looking for.

They say the cost of the translators was 80-150 dollars on the git hub page. I also see most of the sources are 3 years old. Perhaps there has been a price increase in parts they used since this was done?
