I have been using Vivitar 283 flashes with Vivitar SB-4 power supplies (120V 60Hz 6W) for years on big stacks with no issues. The 4 AA batteries remain in the flash when the SB-4 is connected, but I think their only function is powering the flash ready indicator light. The flash output between disch...

best packaging I got was from Ffordes and from Thorlabs. On my last order from Thorlabs one package arrived severely dented like it has been dropped from several feet, and I was already worried, but when opening it I saw that they packaged it with perfect custom padding and the inside was completel...

Re: Panasonic S1R first stack
A sharp, fairly fast lens is needed for this mode to work well. For this test I used a Repro-Nikkor 85mm f/1.0, used at f/2.0 and m=1, so with an effective aperture of f/4.0. I'll write more about this amazing lens elsewhere on the forum. Thanks for sharing this Lou - the combination of the lens an...

Are the Xenoplans you have that massive? Came across these while searching for the spot filter info. Thanks again for the PDF link. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/3062_Screen_Shot_20190610_at_15636_PM_1.png http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/3062_XNP1423_1.jpg Thank you Ro...

I'm not Robert, but I do have Xenoplans in both CCTV and Compact series variants and also a few of these Fujinons. The Fujinons are massive compared to the Schneiders, the CCTV Xenoplans are reasonably large but relatively lightweight , the compact series are small but very dense. Thanks for the in...

But not 49mm filter thread. I thought that would help lead people away :D The CCTV Xenoplans have a 49mm thread. Hello Robert, Here's a link to information about Fujifilm's machine vision lenses, and data on what I think may be a CCTV Xenoplan equivalent lens. Are the Xenoplans you have that massiv...

This sounds as though the flashes may not be fully charged prior to each exposure. If you are using small flash units powered by AA batteries, you may need to use fresh batteries, and wait considerably longer than 3 seconds for them to fully recharge. Alternatively, you may wish to use an AC adapter...

Re: Info On LMPLFL10X Objective
Regardless, I'll stick it on the end of a 200mm tube lens and update this thread w/ test images after I receive it. . It's designed to be used with a 180mm tube lens (such as Olympus's UTLU), but will work fine with 200mm, albeit at 10/9 its nominal magnification, producing an 11.1x magnification. ...

Very interesting comparison! In case you missed it, Rik Littlefield previously posted some very persuasive images of the Doodlebug Beetle Black cardstock here:
