I really like the composition on this photo, with nice colours. The focus looks like you just missed the eyes and are at the hairs on the back. Easily forgiven seeing how quickly these guys move. You might try bringing down the highlights in the stem of the flower which are a bit distracting especia...

Hi all and thanks for the comments! The harvestman does indeed have some intricate patterns almost like a mask or designs to a temple. Not a particularly common species either. The leafcutter was probably the hardest shot since they are continuously moving and 90% of my shots were blurred and pretty...

Hi sonyalpha, Passionflowers do indeed make for beautiful photographic opportunities. I'm not a stacker but it appears that you have done well here. A little oversharpened for my tastes. The brick background could be more pleasantly replaced with some other foliage. Different framing might also add ...

Beautiful details....Do you have any experience with the recomposition tool in CS5. I have been looking for a good way to reduce or eliminate catchlights in the eyes, and while the clone and repair tools are sufficient for simple eyes, ommatidia seem to represent some difficulties as the facets don'...

Thanks John much appreciated praise coming from a great photographer. A few more: Army ant (Eciton sp.). This is of the soldier caste as one can imagine from the huge mandibles. They bite and because of the curved mandibles they don't let go. Locals actually use them as makeshift sutures. They let t...

Thanks for looking Anvancy.

Rik thanks for the kind words and the correction (not a glitch, just a plain and simple mistake). Looking at an alternate view of the wolf spider, it does indeed have some sort of prey underneath it. Appears to be a cricket but I can't be certain based on the angle.

I also really like this, the juxtaposition of the anthers which are quite sharp and photo like with the petals that appear painted makes for an interesting composition with a lot to look at.

Peruvian Cloud rainforest

These were all taken at Wayquecha cloud forest biological station in Manu park. It is located at 2900m in the Andes. It is very cold at night, surrounded almost every day by mist and has a unique variety of orchids, bromeliads and tons of mosses. Fewer animals live at this altitude, but Pumas and th...
