I need a infinity corrected objective 0.17. I am not sure about budget. I just looking for something that really performs well in the 40-60x range. What I have tried so far is not impressing. Maybe I should use oil from 40x and up? Also, infinity systems from different brands generally don't mix ve...

Alternatively, maybe your subject matter is of low contrast and can use some contrast-enhancing techniques? There are darkfield, oblique, polarized lighting methods and combinations thereof. All are cheap and cheerful. Forum member Litonotus' gradient universal filter is the best that I have tried: ...

Sorry, I don't know many good ones. What is your budget and parfocal length? Tube length? LOMO dry 40x 0.95 (33mm parfocal RMS) may be a good starting point for ~$200. And Nikon or Olympus should have much more expensive offerings of 40x 0.95. In that magnification range, especially when your subjec...

Charles, Thank you very much for your very helpful advice. I guess I will use external light and 2x / 4x objectives for now. To get the best epi image out of a 10x objective, I think I need M type objective and epi illuminator, which will cost >$300 at least. Thank you for the polarizer/analyzer ide...

Biological scope with 4x 10x objectives for epi illumination
Thank you for checking in. I have a Nikon Labophot 2 (finite 160 DIN) scope with Nikon E Plan 4x and 10x (NA 0.25) objectives and wonder if I can use the scope for thin opaque subjects (coins, plant tissues, small crystals, ect). My idea is to use the following combined bino head and vertical illumi...

Wow! Thank you so much Phil. My eyepiece is a cat# 161 (it was hidden at the bottom, inside the tube!). Field number is 18 for sure (same as my Nikon CFW10x) and it seems to have high eye point. This eyepiece had pointer but I took it off. I prefer not to upgrade this eyepiece unless necessary, as i...

Thank you very much for chumming in, Phil m. I remember reading your posts about AO Spencer! Do you happen to know if AO Spencer Fifty's bino head will fit on my Sixty? http://m.ebay.com/itm/31132723894 . It seems like it will fit, based on those eBay photos. My monocular AO Sixty has unmarked eyepi...

I just bought a Biolam D112 which seem to have most of what I want. Especially the size, condenser, objectives and compensating eyepieces! I won't need another scope if it works out. I still need teaching eyepiece AU14 and vertical head VA1, and maybe mechanical stage and a pair of compensating eyep...

Wanted: accessories for LOMO Biolam binocular scope
I am looking for some accessories for LOMO Biolam scope: 1. mechanical stage CT-12 (I assume a Labomed mechnical stage will fit?) 2. compensating K type eyepieces (LOMO k7x or Jena k10x with big view field) 3. teaching / demonstration eyepiece (AU-14) 4. VA-1 vertical monocular photo head 5. LOMO mi...

I did some more testing. LOMO WI 65/1.1 on Nikon with CFW10s: visually very little CA, camera may be more sensitive as expected. Resolution is the best that I have ever had in my systems. I suspect the 60/1.1 and AO60 combo produced quite some spherical aberration, when used on mounted diatom slide ...

Thank you David and Ichthy! Very helpful. You are both so kind. Will the following K LOMOs work for camera as well: http://m.ebay.com/itm/111607558441 http://m.ebay.com/itm/111607554438?nav=SEARCH I noticed that they have small view field. Just for camera use alone, does a small (vs. big) view field...
