yes on all modern lenses you have something like this. You should keep using such collars as a very solid option for your future. just throw it on your rail and everything is aligned.

Re: Focus again with the Canon MP-E 65mm
Hi Chris, I think I'm going to order this. I like the diagonal quick release knob, rather than the version at the front, along the rail, which will be under the lens. This diagonal tightening/loosening knob seems more practical for my left hand. https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005005752472010.html?...

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
Using Musou Black as glue is ingenious! =D> Thanks, it is also fully reversible because Musou Black is resolved when moistured and also the lens cleans off easy and completely. I placed the cleaned coverslip on the lens and touched the rim with a toothpick dipped in Musou black. I centered the the ...

Re: Focus again with the Canon MP-E 65mm
Maybe enough for the MP-E 65mm but not for other more demanding scenarios? I don't think you will be happy with this or either the Castel L with the MP-E. I you have a look in Rik's table for DOF you see a a value of 0.025mm for 5x magnification @f2.8. The rack and pinion drive of the Novoflex Cast...

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
I also look forward to revisiting this thread when my own 20X NA 0.75 arrives next week. just for reference, this is the lens I used: lens.jpg and this is how the 5mm diameter coverslip looks like when "glued" to the lens using Musou Black color: coverslip_glued.jpg coverslip_glued_b.jpg

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
In this thread you said those are the best scales you've ever seen. Well, that's with no coverslip. So if I had used a coverslip, result would've been just out of this world then  https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46776 yes I was spoiled by the crosslinks in the blue sca...

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
So my debunking thread got debunked? :| I'm afraid yes Well, I don't think so. Of coarse, it's always better to use the objective as intended (with coverslip in this case), but the point is that you can use a high-NA, coverslip-corrected objective with no coverslip with more than good result , outr...

I thought you were interested in the Sigma 105 not about pixelshift

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
now I "glued" the small coverslip with the black colour Musou-Black to the lens. And this seems to work excellent. Sony A7R5 /300 shots at 0,75 µm / Raxynox tube lens /2 LED panels continuous lightning / slabbed and edited Scales_glued_coverslip_overview.jpg crop_scales.jpg Links to fullsize image

Re: Sharpest aperture for a given macro lens
Specially I am interested in using the Sigma 105mm Art here you can have a look on the test of my Sigma 105. A comparison of a 16x pixelshift reveals that at f2.8 the Sigma outresolves the sensor of a Sony A7R4/5 since the pixelshift shows much more details as a single frame :D http://www.photomacr...

Re: Connection from 2 photos of lenses. How to choose a second (inverted)?
Have you tried shooting 3D objects with this Chinese analogue of 5x? if yes, how is the quality? no I haven't, since I found it to weaker on flat subject I made no further tests. As far as I can judge, the pictures of the board taken by Laova seemed much worse to me than those taken with a Chinese ...

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
I put a drop of water on the waver and a cover slip. Camera again Sony A7rv, Raxnox tube lens, no further extension, Zerene pmax. Mitutoyo 20x 0.42: Mity_coverslip.jpg Nikon 20x 0.75 Nikon_coverslip.jpg so with a cover slip the Nikon shines :D and I doubt that can be achieved with additional spacing...

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
Very nice! As expected, the Nikon clearly outresolves the Mitty. OK but for the Nikon with NA 0.75 compared to Mitutoyo with NA 0.42 I hope for much more :( I hoped replacing a 50x NA0,55 with the 20x NA0.75 and wider field of view and even better resolution, but with the current setup that doesn't...

Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
The longer FL the tube lens the bigger offset it takes to compensate for the lack of coverslip. In this case it was about 40mm. With a 150mm tube lens I found the sweet spot at about 20mm extra extension. Thanks this is excellent, so a helicoid extension tube is sufficient for evaluation. P.S:: due...
