Clever setup :D Like the use of the micropositioners at right angles for the subject. Were these adapted? Best, Thanks, its just a cheap Microscope X/Y-stage from Ebay, mounted on a wood block. This in turn is mounted to the Proxxon table using the heads on two screws that slides into the T-grooves...

Alex, I think that you can't grab relevant conclusions from memories of a single observation. My advice is to perform true tests in controlled situations changing only one variable at once (camera mode, shutter speed, subject positioning...) and writing your notes immediately after. That's a fair p...

Also weird was the initial report that "After changing the diffuser and subject (and maybe some settings on the camera, I sadly cant recall), the image at 1/15th of a second suddenly got sharp 2 minutes later " (emphasis added). --Rik It was likely because the mounted specimen 2 minutes later was n...

Thanks again for the informative discussion, and sorry for my absence have been busy lately. Just had a look at the sensor while taking a test shot - and no, there is no curtain moving at all at the exposure start, but despite this some vibration can be felt and a faint click. So I guess its just so...

Thanks so much for the answers! I'm afraid the answer is terribly boring: it just depends on how unstable the specimen mount is. If my X/Y-stage is fully extended in one direction, and the there's a light specimen at the end of a thin specimen pin it becomes a major problem. So its not a total disas...

Canon 6D silent mode problems, vibrations at exposure start

My Canon 6D seems to have problems with its Electronic First Shutter Curtain, even thought I have "Silent Shooting: mode 1" enabled it produces quite a lot of vibrations at the start of the exposure. I can hear a click and even feel the shake of the exposure start if I put a finger to the camera bod...

You could try this link
https://www.mccrone.com/mm/winkel-zeiss ... scope-kit/

seems that you have an objective from a field hospital microscope

hope this helps.
That seems to be it! Thanks a bunch! :D

Mystery Zeiss Winkel 10 Ap. 0,25 microscope lens

I recently found a cheap used Zeiss lens for which I cant find any documentation or mention on the net. I took a chance it was worth it, its not super sharp in the corners etc, but for the price of 20€ I'd say it was worth it. I noticed that on the side it had a hand engraved numer "646" which made ...

Belated update: Have been using the camera for a couple of years now, for the first 3 years the rig was used in a horizontal setup, and recently in a vertical (for stability and also to reduce the chance of dust floating up to the sensor) Considering how much I have used the camera, and how exposure...

Got my 39 mm B+W UV-Haze Nano filter and stuck it between two M42 extension tubes that I put closest to the camera. The filter was small enough to simply fit inside of the female M42 threads, and is held tight between the two ET's when they are screwed together. Seems to work a charm, no degradation...

Charles, Thanks, I might acutally try that exact setup - some 25€ I can spend on keeping my sensor clean if its a close to perfect solution. And if it isnt I'll have to angle it some 5 deg's and cross my fingers. Did you remove the glass from the filter thread somehow (is that even possible without ...

Thank you for your replies! Much appreciated Pau: I found the threads by using some better searching (including AND between the terms cut down the hits from 2000 to a manageable 20), but thanks for the links - now I know which threads you referred to :) Ok, so the "filter" idea I had is viable, but ...

Preventing sensor dust when using bellows

Hello! I recently got my brand spanking new (and thus clean, in contrast with my old Nikon D70 - which had significant parts of the Sahara desert on the sensor) Canon 6D, in parts thanks to commenters on this forum. The camera will be mostly used for studio stacking in combination with a bellows uni...
