Re: Help needed: DIC components necessary for my Oly

U-DICTS: S for shift. According to my digging, the difference for photomicrography isn't that huge. Using one requires an intermediate collar to hold a polariser, I guess the U-POT3? Complicates things, so not my type of joint here... bad puns are bad. (pot, yeah? hehehe I'll go stand in a corner) ...

Hi, my experience with isoproanol is mixed, if you use it out of glass bottels it is fine, if you store it in plastic containers (falcon tubes) it leaves a white residue - i guess there is something dissolving in the isoprop our olympus service technician uses petroleum ether which evaporates nicely...

Advice for tethered shooting

Hi, we are setting up a new documentation station at work and I am currently looking into different options for doing photo documentation. Maximum image quality is not of concern (unfortunately) but ease of use. Ideally it should be some form of tethered shooting to PC with a rather robust camera. T...

You have a full set of Phase objectives - Do you have the phase condenser (U-PCD)? it can be used with immersion medium and then - iirc - with condenser na of 1.25. It has an annulus for darkfield besides bf and ph1,2,3 (and with the 10x you can use the ph3 annulus as decent darkfield stop). With th...

@enricosavazzi
thank you for sharing this experience. i think that accuracy is key here. I agree, the price (incl s&h and import duties) is prettey steep for what you get.

There is this guy on ebay selling a variety of condenser inserts in different sizes. I was contemplating of buying a set because i am also looking for an darkfield insert for the UCD8 but have never gotten around to.

I also would be interested in the PCB (2 if possible). I would like to adapt one to micro-manager via their arduino device adapter.

Hi Michael,

once again a wonderful abstract and colorful motif. I once read that ram is repetetive and boring but your images prove the contrary.

Hi Zed,

these are both great images. Thank you for sharing! I like the first one better - the steel grey of the eye complements the metallic blue better than the uv fluorescent light blue. The shadow doesnt bother me at all.

Kind regards

Oh sorry i was in a bit of an hurry. The CKX is actually equipped with planfluorite objectives of the same grade as in the ix70. The "horrible" was me reminding my attempts of creating an oblique lighting setup with this condenser. this did not work out because i could not decenter the condenser eno...
