Hi Rik, George, For a quick intro to telecentric lenses, I suggest http://www.computeroptics.com/telecentric.html . --Rik I've had a look at the site, and I think I understand how telecentric lenses work for an image from a single location. So I can see how that would benefit you when making a stack...

Hi Rik, You made a really great image there. I downloaded the large version, and the detail is astounding in so large an image. I've never heard of "Telecentric Lens Systems" before, but you have produced wonderfully detailed image from the setup you have put together. This seems like a cool way to ...

Recipe:
Alder cone smoked grouse with fern root glaze & salal sau
I've never heard of anyone eating Alder Cones before. Interesting as the recipe sounds, I don't think I'll be trying it anytime soon.

Bye for now.

Hi Doug, How big are they when they mature? Great job on the stack. They don't get much bigger. There is some variablility in size. The ones in the image are in the mid-sized range. They tend to grow in width as the scales open, but the length remains pretty much the same. A bit like me when I used ...

Thanks for the comments. I've toned down the anthers a bit. Do you think that's any better?

I had a look at the Ivy on the wall before it got dark, and I found one in bloom. Looking at the way the florets are opening, I would guess that they will not all open at once, but a few at a time.

Ivy Flower ( Hedera Helix )

Hi all, I noticed this morning that the Ivy on my house wall is just coming into flower. This is a stacked image of 28 frames adjusted by 0.5 mm between shots. Each of the little florets is about 2.5 mm in diameter. Nikon D200 with 105mm VR macro + 1.4 x teleconverter. 28 frames of 0.6 sec @ F11 iso...

Hi Rik, I'll have a closer look to see if I can find the seems you noticed. Thats still a pretty cool panorama of the butterfly garden, even though you say that the stitching has problems. I noticed a bit of a problem in the rail behind the lady in blue. Is that the one you meant? I also noticed a b...

Hi Rik, Your demonstration of the paralax effect is most interesting. I suppose if you were doing this from an artistic rather than technical point, it wouldn't matter all that much provided the overall image was basically sound and free of obvious stitching artifacts. I agree about the lack of over...

Hi Rik, George, Can you temporarily post out the 3x3 source images I've uploaded them to this link. They are in a zip file. I've reduced them in size to 800 pixels wide. I think part of the problem may be that I don't have much of an overlap between the top and middle rows. I will run this again usi...

Hi Rik, I wondered about the effects of camera movement on the stitching software, but I couldn't get my head round how to compensate for it. I don't have any way, at the moment, to rotate the camera around the exit pupil. That'll have to wait for another day. I've re-done the same three stacks of t...

Hi Rik, Using your comments on the settings you used in PTGui, I've made my first successful, (almost), stitched stack in PTGui. I also did the stitching in Panorama Factory, and I think that PTGui did a slightly better job, although there was not much in it. I used an old watch that I have, and jus...

Hi Rik, Thanks for posting this explanation of how you use PTGui. I've been struggling a bit trying to understand which parameters to use when compiling an image and haven't got satisfactory results yet. I'm sure the method you described here will help me understand the program better. Bye for now. ...
