Steve,

Congrats, nice clever creative image!!

Love the needle development story, never even considered how these were made and yet used them every day when doing chip probing.

Best,

Charles, Congrats!! James, I have the Nikons and must stay with them for same reason Charles mentioned (glass investment). They will block the flash hot shoe in Fully Electronic mode, and do use the rear curtain to terminate the exposure in EFSC mode. A work around has been developed for the hot sho...

Re: DIY microscope: Lego, 3D printing, Arduinos, Raspberry P

Brought to my attention this morning by IEEE Spectrum: https://spectrum.ieee.org/geek-life/hands-on/build-a-sophisticated-microscope-using-lego-3d-printing-arduinos-and-a-raspberry-pi Quoting from the start of the article: Build A Sophisticated Microscope Using Lego, 3D Printing, Arduinos, and a Ra...

Steven, Saw this new camera as well. Seems like a possible use with the RPi, maybe the new version 4, and a stacking controller based upon the Trinamic motor controllers could produce a complete "Integrated Stack & Stitch System" with camera and lens. Add 3 rails with stepper motors and one could ha...

The custom PCBs arrived and we assembled one of the Quad LED Controllers with parts that were on hand, still waiting of parts order. The PCB is 80 by 95mm, double sided standard FR4. Turns out we had equivalents for all the parts for use with the modified low voltage Jansjo Lamps, so no issues. No t...

Saul, Another excellent combination of LED and Flash. As we've shown on another thread an LED, or LED COB simply can't compete with the Xeon flash tube in terms of short high energy optical bursts helpful for "freezing" vibration effects. 1ms seems about the limit for practical LED use, but you've ...

Hi Mike, My setup bases on a different idea. The core consisting of the rail with the camera and subject-holder are mounted to the aluminium bar, which is softly mounted/clamped to the wooden frame. In this way the transfer of the vibrations from outside is decreased. https://www.facebook.com/adalb...

Hello Mike, Flash does not help subject movement yes, it is clear but I cannot imagine, that there are no vibrations in havy setups. I’m afraid that they are noticeable at 50x or higher. BR, ADi I've found that having a very stiff setup with multiple levels of vibration attenuation and using EFCS h...

Flash does not help subject movement due to vibration or any other sources causing movement, it only helps reduce the blur effects due to movement during the exposure and is effective because the exposure is short and it "freezes" the movement. This only works in the final stacking if the software i...

The Cree LEDs arrived and I've configured a Jansjo LED lamp with the CMA1306 9V 700ma 1000 lumen LED COB. It fits nicely and only required cutting the tabs off the reflector back with pliers, and drilling out the reflector to clear the larger Cree LED COB center cluster. Then just solder the Cree CO...

I got a surface mounting kit awhile back since many of the components I work with are SMD types, so shouldn't have a problem with the setup. Can't recall the StepStick V1.4 layout, is there a SMD resistor, maybe an 0603 or 0805 type? Yeah couple of SMD resistors on there. Let me know if you'd like ...

Cam, Glad you've discovered the controller profile motion control mode and have it working, that's all I've been using with the Trinamic devices once I got them to operate early last year. It's way better than Step and Dir control, hopefully others will give them a try in this mode. I got a surface ...

I'm using a Teensy 3.5 (arduino compatible) and a Nextion Enhanced 4.3" touch screen on a rose engine. Basically, it is similar to a 4 axes CNC. The touchscreen has 22 different pages. My camera setup uses a Teensy 3.2 and a bluetooth connection to an Android smart phone. There are quite a few func...

Hi bhf, That looks like you could produce a really nice setup around what you've shown! BTW I was at the same position (except nothing to start with) a few years ago and wanted to create my own controller system since what I wanted to do wasn't readily available commercially within acceptable costs....
