Re: Hejnar Clamp for Flat Surface
Does the lever clamp tighten as well as a turning knob? I have never used that type of clamp.

Hejnar Clamp for Flat Surface
I am looking to mount an Arca clamp onto a flat surface, specifically an optical breadboard. Hejnar photo makes a clamp designed for flat surface mounting as the knob is thin and will not get in the way. The knob can also be tightened with a hex wrench: Capture.JPG Anyone have experience with this p...

Re: Misfire of strobe during shooting
I've come across the same problem with Godox. The only 100% guaranteed solution I could come up with is cabling or optical slaves as Rik suggests.

Re: 3d Printed Carriage for Thorlabs XT66 optical rail
Hi Cam. Yes, 15 series is 1.5" v-slot aluminum extrusion. I have seen carriages such as the one you reference, but a rail like yours would be great to combine with it. A carriage is at least a start I guess. I appreciate you listing your hardware. Thanks a lot.

Re: 3d Printed Carriage for Thorlabs XT66 optical rail
Hi Cam. Your rail concept is great. I use an aluminum extrusion rig (15 series profile) and your rail should be able to be adapted to my set-up. Can you please describe more the hardware for the rail? Also, what is travel per turn of the knob?
Thanks.
Josh
Thanks.

Re: Need a permanent setup!
Hi Netdewt. At 1-2" using a focus rail to stack doesn't seem necessary and actually may give you worse results compared to stacking by changing the focus by using the lens ring. Probably the best method to focus stack at your subjects' size range is to use your focus motor so you do not have to manu...

Re: lighting & setup questions
One suggestion regarding continuous lighting is to buy E26 socket lamps with a flexible neck and then buy high-CRE LED bulbs separately. You'll get more lumens and good CRI, but you'll lose more control as compared to something like the Quans. Also, high-CRI bulbs with a narrow beam can be expensive.

Re: Testing a Sony A7sii for macro
Thank you Nick for conducting a test. Quite interesting to have a real world comparison. Rik's flash is helpful. Although just by looking at the Flickr images tells the story - the focus stacked images have far and away better quality. However, I do understand how the small aperture technique is a v...

Re: Experience with lighting/diffusion using a single strobe?
Thanks for the summary Rik. When you search for CRI in the title you only get 8 results. I have been looking at all the posts which were somewhat helpful, but not entirely definitive. In addition, I am looking for the interplay between CRI and diffusion. Post edited to provide links to some good thr...

Re: Experience with lighting/diffusion using a single strobe?
For Beatsy et al. What is the CRI rating for Jansjo? Also, I am trying to figure if CRI even matters if you're putting a diffuser between the light and the subject. I can't seem to find a previous discussion on CRI in the forums. Not sure if I should get hung up on CRI ratings or not. Never really c...
