A couple of hand held moth stacks

Possibly better if I had used a tripod and macro rail? Or maybe just more photos or a smaller aperture Moth hand held stack 8 photos f6.3 https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4227/34472172110_7e4c576648_b.jpg Moth EF7A4249 by davholla2002 , on Flickr Handheld Stack 11 photos at f13 https://c1.staticflickr....

Leaf miners

Has anyone ever tried to take photos of leaf miners in the leaf? Is so what do you do and did it work? I guess you need a strong back light.

The general appearance suggests to me an immature "root aphid", perhaps some sort of Phylloxera .

What you have are almost certainly not true aphids because they have no visible cornicles .

A spider and some strange insects

I saw this spider the other day and am reasonably happy with how it turned out. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4164/34484596166_5ae4568d53_b.jpg SpiderEF7A4092 by davholla2002 , on Flickr At my parents house in South London/North Kent, I turned over a stone to photograph the ant woodlice and saw thes...

I like - diffusion on these is quite tricky. Could you use high iso and not use a flash? Almost certainly, most of the time, but it was very windy so the flash was better to freeze motion in this case. And I'd just got it - so it simply had to be played with. When you have a new hammer, every probl...

This is my attempt - I used zerene stacker That looks like a good result. I do notice that the background is somewhat blotchy. That appearance is often caused by using the DMap stacking method with the contrast threshold slider set too far to the left. It should be pushed to the right until out-of-...

Very good! It is a good idea to try a monopod or something similar, especially for pictures higher than 1:1. I just use a pole to steady myself, much like this tried and true method, demonstrated by Brian Valentine: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lordv/75900442/in/album-72157594293307036/ Fixing the...
