Re: Unknown True Bug
We definitely could use a dorsal view and ventral might also help. I see some roughness on the shoulder so that makes me suspect "Subfamily Asopinae - Predatory Stink Bugs" (https://bugguide.net/node/view/247812/bgpage). I'm not sure bugguide is very complete on these insects. It's not as though bro...

Re: Scales - pushing the envelope (of my kit)
I think the Papilio sp. ir. scale structure is quite different from the Morpho sp.. In Papilio, the longitudinal ribs are spaced quite wide, maybe 4 μm, while the cuticular membrane is a fine laminae with different species exhibiting iridescence related to the cavities within. In Morpho, the longitu...

Re: Scales - pushing the envelope (of my kit)
The science would suggest you need to resolve the wavelength of light that is reflected. That would put the blue scales beyond the reach of the TU Plan 50X. Maybe the Papilio blumei, a green species, would acheive the results sought (as the specs indicate the objective can resolve 0.5 μm.) Edit: The...

Re: Strange structure of flowers, an unknown dicotyledonous plant.
Corchoropsis tomentosa
I copied and pasted a line of the description for a google search and sure enough, others have also learned copy/paste.
Edit: I should have backed up and left it at Corchoropsis sp.

Re: To enjoy: Peter Gabriel video for microscopists.
What an intriguing video. Well done! I'm waiting for steam trains and aeroplanes flying, but that's the wrong track.
Oops, that was the official soundtrack video. I don't remember it. Still, Well posted!

An interesting Nikon Product History brochure (1917 - 2004) - edit: bad link removed Or from Nikon to 2006 - edit: bad link removed Edit: Sorry for the bad links. Re: Strange Nikon 50x-100x zoom objective
Not an expert but I'll put my 2 sense on a condenser lens for a profile projector a la Nikon V-12B. Link to brochure (see page 4) - https://www.morrellonline.com/uploads/2 ... iwhh-9.pdf

Re: A beetle
Great stack and I agree with Chris in that the brightness needed to be picked up. In fact that is what I did when I first saw your post (before Chris' reply) so that I could appreciate the ventral details that are front and center of the pose. If I could be so bold as to offer my own interpretation,...

Re: Leica distribution box
The pc software can be designed to kick out if it does not see the device addresses it is programmed for, e.g. camera or any other device with built in logic that carries a device address. That would preempt you from using the pc software unless you hack it. The question is whether the optics carrie...

Not likely that the machine won't operate, more likely the software won't operate past enumerating the devices.

I have no idea if this link is worth anything but the "seller" posted some images of a Leica Z16 APOA system with the attached DI box.
