Re: Vespula germanica

Hello Matthias,
You have captured the wasp very well.
The light could be a little more diffuse, which would have a positive effect on the eye.

Re: Peony ant

Hi Doug,
The first photo has something in it.
If you shoot outdoors, you might try the internal focus bracketing of your R7 with a macro lens if you have one.
Manual stacking by moving the camera is possible, as some have proved (unfortunately I can't do it).

Hello Rik,
Nice "cameras" and nice "projection screen" :-)

Re: Castor bean tick / Holzbock / Ixodes ricinus

Very cool, interesting to see you used 20x compared to the 4-5x I required on the GFX to get the full body in frame. I assume your tick must have been really tiny! Do you have some high-res crops? I'd love to see what kind of detail you were able to get! Transmitted light was also a consideration, ...

when you take a photo of a wafer at that scale, is the resulting 3d model completely flat?
Yes, of course, even a slide with the bed bug: https://skfb.ly/oPouD is flat.

Hello Kurt,
Very interesting story!
BTW, I use 4 * YN660 and they are triggered wirelessly
at the same time via RF605C (no master/slave).

Re: Will we ever have a "perfect" stacking software?

Hello Macrero, I am aware of the problem. In such cases I make substacks and retouch with Zerene. I usually make the substacks with PMax and on the basis of the substacks I make a stack with PMax and DMap. Then I start retouching with DMap, paint over with PMax and then the affected areas with the i...

Re: some scales

What kind of surface did you glue it to and what type of glue did you use? I'm just using a small drop of PVA glue which I smear across the surface of the microscope slide and wait until it gets a bit tacky (so it does not soak the wing), position the wing on the glue film, put a piece of wax paper...

Re: some scales

I am reminded that wings can never be completely flat, because the veins are a lot thicker than the membrane. So, another possibility is that you successfully glued the backside of a vein to the flat surface, but the membrane never did get flat on the front surface between veins. --Rik Hello Rik, O...
