Another modified Wemacro stand
After reviewing some of the remarkable rigs people have constructed, I decided that I needed to improve my setup. I had a machine shop precisely drill four holes in the base of my vertical WeMacro stand. This allowed my focus block/frame (from an old Olympus CHBS microscope) to be bolted on. The bac...

Dioptase on Calcite
Thought I'd post this stack..shot with a T7i camera w LED lighting using a 10X Mitutoyo objective on 200mm Nikon tube lens. The green Dioptase crystals produced strong halos and shadows so I suppressed some of them by de-saturating the Cyan in those areas. A form of cheating I suppose? Comments welc...

Sorry I have sent the A7Riii camera back and can't provide any new images, but here is a crop with contrast and clarity boosted. No sharpening. This is a JPEG stack taken using EFSC at 1/15 sec with LED lighting. You can see the diffuse "waffle" or striped pattern I referred to. It might help to sta...

I believe you are correct about the ports. The A7Riii does indeed have both a USB C port for tethering, and a Sony USB "multiport" for shutter triggering. It works well with the Wemacro rail as long as you have a Sony connector cable. In my previous post Beatsy explained that he uses an Infrared rem...

Sony A7Riii Stripes
I have been encountering a diffuse waffle pattern, visible in JPEG stacks as light colored noise over a dark background. I assume this is the same basic "PDAF" (phase detection auto focus) issue discussed elsewhere. Admittedly this is not a complete show stopper as it can largely be edited out, howe...

Shutter triggering on a Sony A7Riii
Hi All, I am considering the purchase of an A7Riii Sony mirror-less camera to be used with a Wemacro rail (a vertical setup on the Wemacro stand). I'm currently using a Canon T5i and enjoy using the EOS utility software for tethering to a PC in Live View. I have read a few posts by people using an I...
