Spider molt on Lichen

Hi Gang Back story... In May, I was camping at the Hoh Rain Forest on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State and I decided to bring back a small sample of some lichen growing on the side of a tree. Lucky for me, I brought specimen containers and placed the green lichen into one. When I returned t...

Colorado Potatoe Beetle

Hi Gang

A few shots of this tiny beetle.

I bet it loves potatoes just as much as I do!

June Beetle

Hi Gang Found this guy on my driveway and it was "freshly" deceased. I was able to open his wings and keep them in position until it hardened. Just a few different views. Mike 2021-06-14-19.24.37-ZS-retouched_WEB.jpg 2021-06-14-20.31.30-ZS-retouched_WEB.jpg 2021-06-14-21.02.43-ZS-retouched_WEB.jpg

Re: Insects, and maybe a discussion about post-processing

Mark You and Kurt have excellent images and work flows and I could learn a few trick from this. I use Photoshop and really want to learn The GIMP mainly because Adobe wants you to "subscribe" (AKA - send them more money), but that is a rant for Lewis Black to address. I digress... Anyway, after edit...

Strange seed

Hi Gang I have a flowering tree outside and when the seed pods mature, they are interesting because the leafy material forms a "box" like structure around the seeds. This is looking inside where the seeds are attached and this example is from last year's bloom, so the leaf structure is long deceased...

Re: Monarch

Mark and all Let me tell you its gets stranger... I had recently washed out a large cooler to prepare for an upcoming trip. I had the cooler resting against the side of my garage to let it dry, and I had it there for several days. I placed the cooler in the garage and closed the lid. All in all it s...

Re: Seeds

Thanks!

The second shot came out strange, but it was with my Mitutoyo 5x.

Now to keep them from spreading in my studio!

Seeds

Hi Gang

Found a cluster of weeds growing in my back wooded area. I do not know what kind, but the seeds are spread through breezy conditions like dandelions.

Thought I would take a few shots.

Monarch

Hi Gang I found the chrysalis in my back yard and decided to see what it would become, which is a Monarch Butterfly. The chrysalis shot probably had some motion during stacking but I wanted to share the before and after. I let the butterfly out onto a flowering plant and it rested there for about 15...
