Nicely presented, very pretty--but it looks quite lethal!

Thanks Rik for posting these images and the discussion. A lot more impressive than I have seen in textbooks!

I get a nice 3-dimensional feeling from this. Good work!

Nice images. The last one is a particularly happy balance of good diffusion with control of highlights in an overall pleasantly bright image.

Nikon D 810 experience

Perhaps I missed it, but does anyone have experience with the electronic first curtain feature on the Nikon D810? Does it compare to the similar Canon feature? Does it have to be activated for each shot (which would make using Stackshot difficult)?

Walking iris

Image

Neomarica, commonly known as walking iris, produces tiny flowers about this time of the year, with transparent trichomes.

Amazing indeed. What equipment were you using?
Do you have any insight into why there is a discrete color change about half way back in the eyes? Different types of sensors perhaps?

Gorgeous work. I agree with abpho; deeper stack might be information overload, weakening the effect of the sharp hairs you show in that area. Looks good as is.

Thanks to all for your further thoughts--I will try some other older 200 f4 lenses on my body; I think I can find some locally. But would this focal length used as a tube lens be useful for the 4X as well as 10X objectives?

My thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge on this. I know the FF camera is problematic, but I want to stay with it for a variety of reasons. I earlier--with a 10X Nikon M-- tried an older Nikon 200 AI but it was such a tight fit on my body that I was afraid that it might do damage over time...
