Not that many to be honest. I've got way too many lenses and not the perfect adapter for this lens. I could make some test images though. What subject would you consider a good way to determine the optical characteristics of this lens? I don't do any stacking at the moment so it would be single fram...

Another quick test shot of the Cinegon, now on a Canon 5DmkII on my Multiphot, of a feather: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/1152_db_170414_8927_1.jpg As you can see, my lens/adapter/camera combination has a flare issue, maybe better flocking will help. On the other hand, the chromatic...

Schneider Cinegon 8mm f/1.4 (2.0)

Although I'm trying not to collect too many new lenses I couldn't resist buying a couple of new old stock Schneider Kreuznach Cinegon 8mm f/1.4 (2.0) lenses. These are a special version of the lens with a fixed circular f/2.0 aperture and no supplied focussing mount. http://www.photomacrography.net/...

With traditional led panels with grids of leds like the polaroid you may need additional softboxes if you want soft illumination. The Trond looks good with indirect diffuse lighting. I use a LedGo panel with diffused leds, there are also cheap ones sold as Rpad and Vpad. All have the leds in the rim...

Your A7rii is a great camera, why do you feel the need for anything else? You can adapt an mpe65 onto it if you want, or a great number of other high quality macro/micro lenses. What range of magnification and working distance are you looking for?

You are right, these look like loc-line tubes, used for industrial coolant work, aquarium ducts, gopro arms and underwater flash connectors. The black ones holding the flash units are 3/4 inch size, the blue ones with orange joints are 1/2 or 1/4 inch. The black ones are very sturdy but with more li...

Carl Zeiss S-Planar 60/4, S-Sonnar 62/2.5

In order to fund some nice new optical toys I'm selling a few old ones, including two rare specialist ones that may be of interest to forum members: Carl Zeiss S-Sonnar 62mm f/2.5 M1:2.12 A rare lens, designed for high resolution, flat field copying at a magnification of 1:2.12. Or 2.12:1, when reve...

Like JL said, using a combination of an OTG USB-microUSB cable on the tablet and any miniUSB-USB cable on the camera will work. There are also OTG miniUSB-microUSB cables: http://www.lindy.co.uk/cables-adapters-c1/usb-c449/0-5m-usb-otg-cable-black-type-micro-b-to-mini-b-p7276 I like using these with...

Thanks for the info. My concern for the monitor placement was draught or a reduction in stability with its mass being so high up, not that it would create any vibrations itself. Glad to hear it is not a problem for you.

Thank you for these pictures. How would you describe the difference in light from the two LED lights, in intensity and colour? Your Trond is the fixed blue-white 10W, right, not the variable 11W version? An interesting way of fixing both camera and Mitutoyo. Your monitor is the Aputure fineHD 7 inch...

Re: Scanner-Nikkor

Given the compact size of then CoolScan film scanners, I would presume that the focal length of the Scanner-Nikkor lens is quite short. The sensor may be small, such that the magnification is much less than 1:1. I came across a few images of disassembled LS8000s. With a few quick and dirty size com...

Dickb in regards to gutting a Vivitar 2x teleconverter do you need to you a spanner or is it a matter of unscrewing components? These are readily available on Ebay and quite cheap. That depends on the mount of the macro focussing teleconverter. Some are more easily dismantled than others. It has be...

Re: Scanner-Nikkor

I read on one of Enrico Savazzi's pages (in Italian...translated) regarding the Printing-Nikkors that there was a Scanner-Nikkor lens that may have a similar construction. It seems Nikon made a new lens design using ED glass for their CoolScan IV and CoolScan V film scanners, and gave it the name S...

First things first, the OM 65-116mm telescopic auto extension tube is just that - a telescopic extension tube of 65mm to 116mm of length. It is very sturdy when locked, and quick to adjust coarsely. It is not a focussing helicoid though, and tricky to adjust with the extreme fine precision you'll li...

OK, so here are the results. - The Canon 65mm MPE beat most other lenses until you get to 4X to 5X mag where the 28mm M-componon wins. - The old Macro-Nikkor 65mm was very good until 3X to 4X, where diffraction ultimately beats it. At around 3x to 5x, would you prefer the MPE or the Macro Nikkor? D...
