This is a crop from a recent shot of a Mosquito eyeball. The subject was pretty fresh from the freezer. Notice the little blue rings or discs, any ideas what's going on there? Looks like a female Oedemera nobilis to me, the males have wonderful chunky thighs!

Backlit shot of the things in eggs, this time on a Crocosmia leaf.

They look like little caterpillars so I'm now assuming these are lepitopteran or at a push sawflies. Any thoughts?
