Mosquito eye oddity?

This is a crop from a recent shot of a Mosquito eyeball. The subject was pretty fresh from the freezer. Notice the little blue rings or discs, any ideas what's going on there? Is this the start of degradation in the eye? I've never noticed these 'structures' before.. http://www.photomacrography.net/...

One more recent one I found in a 'just starting to open' state;

Btw lovely detail in those crops!

I look forward to seeing what a good 20x or 40x objective can do on that sensor with that subject! :)

I wonder what chewed up those scales on yours? I've never seen anything like that on my specimen.

Seriously everyone into stacking should have one of these beauties!

Moss spore capsules

I love finding these particular style of moss spore capsules in this state, a couple of recent shots; http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/390_20140612182132_ZS_retouched_pp_1.jpg http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/390_20140616172727_ZS_retouchedaaa_pp_1.jpg First with JML 20x, 1...

Thanks to Gilles San Martin on Flickr again! "Its' an exotic Psyllidae. Probably Ctenarytaina eucalypti (also for the Nymph). If it has been photographed on Eucalyptus in the UK it should be this species." As I suspected it's not native but a Eucalyptus specialist which seems to have travelled the w...

Some kind of true bug I think

Another couple of mystery bugs. When I saw the adult I thought maybe a barkfly or maybe a true bug. Seeing it close up i'm thinking it has to be a Hemipteran.. Ideally I'd like to nail it down more specifically than that! :) Adult: http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/390_20140609183036_ZS_...

Backlit shot of the things in eggs, this time on a Crocosmia leaf.

They look like little caterpillars so I'm now assuming these are lepitopteran or at a push sawflies. Any thoughts?

I'm completely stuck on ID for this, any tips much appreciated! -- Also found some other 'bug eggs' or some sort of little containers with and without tiny bugs in. On Acer and Heuchera leaves. Empty (on red acer) https://www.flickr.com/photos/laurie-knight/14376086771/ Full (on Heuchera) https://ww...

Some sort of egg case? (ID help!!?)

Found on Crocosmia, approx 3-4mm long. No idea what it is but appears to be a kind of packet of eggs?

Any tips on ID appreciated. I presume this is an insect but by no means sure!

I thought this was a baby scale insect

Thanks to Gilles San Martin on Flickr I now know it is in fact an aphid. Weird as it looks nothing like any aphid I ever saw but it seems it is so! Gene, The more stuff I look at with it the more pleased I am, what a fantastic view! I've spent most of the last two days looking at aphids, caterpillars and brave flies in the garden! :D The gadget is a lighter, a brass Douglas field lighter http://www.bladehq.com/item--Douglass-Field-Lighter-Water...
