There are two models, the metric 462-XYZ-M ULTRAlign™ and the imperial 462-XYZ ULTRAlign™. Be sure which you have.

More details in their catalogue.

They do have a drawing with dimensions, but the size of the particular holes on the triangular brace is not mentioned.

Re: Is this a white blood cell?

I used an 40x objective. The red arrow indicates what I am referring to. From a Google search it sure seem like it. No, but you do have two leukocytes in your (unstained) sample. Normally they are easier to spot as the nuclei stain a purple-blue colour. Your blood filmis also a bit thick. Its easie...

The Nikkor AIS 200mm f/4 springs to mind as a compact (relative to the Micro-Nikkor 200/4 lenses, or the 180/2.8 AIS Nikkor), affordable, and good quality possibility. If 180mm is acceptable (4.5x) and higher quality is desired, the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 180mm f/4 is of excellent quality and very ...

Re: Thanks for the link

I sent that link to Google Translator, and it did an impressive job.. What I learned was that OPD is now merged with (or has become) hperion-development.com. From information the poster got from someone at Hyperion the OPD objective requires a 200mm tube lens and would provide a 2.5x field of view ...

Re: Nikon CFI objective made in china...

Why would that be strange? everybody knows that chinese products quality is questionable... I'm sure we will all be interested if you purchase a made in Japan version and post images showing whether it is better. [quote="Litonotus" there are of course some exceptions but 'made in china' is not a sy...

Re: Nikon CFI objective made in china...

I heard about it that some nikon products are chinese or mounted in china, but it still looks strange when you see 'made in china' and 'nikon' side by side Why would that be strange? Nikon has products made in China, Malaysia, Taiwan, Phillipines and recently they started some factories in Brazil, ...

What is the difference between an M plan, CFI plan and a BD plan? Is this only pertinent to Nikon? M Plan are for metallurgy. This means that they use a 210mm tube length rather than 160mm (so you set your bellows a bit longer) and they are designed to not need a cover slip (which is good). CF mean...

Do I need to worry about the different immersion types?
I would say "yes" to both.

You don't want an objective that needs a cover glass and you don't want an objective that needs to be immersed in oil or water or glycerol.

Not sure but I think the D is for document. These are micofilm lenses. Before cheap computer memory they were storing newspapers and such on 16mm film or more likely reading the microfilm. Aparenly so - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schneider_Kreuznach#D-Claron "The D-Claron (Dokumentations-Clar...

Re: Arca clamp for StackShot mount?

I'm about to buy a StackShot (+extended rail +shutter cable) and saw in a few threads that I should pick up the Arca mount. I don't actually have an Arca clamp, so I thought I'd ask for a clamp and plate recommendation before I just started clicking "buy." For a plate, it depends what camera you ha...

I posted this on your flickr but I will post it here too. Tanner, is your stopped-down 'last' frame at the back or at the front? I agree that f/5.6 is the sharpest aperture on this lens; for a final stopped-down shot I would suggest f/11 or f/16. The point is not to get sharp in-focus details but ra...

For hot pixel removal I use PixelFixer , which is freeware, on the raw NEF files prior to developing. I don't get shadows or other artefacts. I notice that you are attempting to remove hot pixels from JPEGs,which is going to give worse results. Instead of fixing the value for a single photosite, the...
