So that's not too bad. I suspect somebody at one time separated the dovetail block from the bearing block and didn't put the adjusting shim back in from when the factory built the stand. What's happened is somebody had tightened the Allen bolt to the extreme. The mechanism has a female dovetail. It's dug into the soft male dovetail of the aluminum focusing part. The top mechanism in your photo is the slow speed escapement with tiny gears. It removes as a unit with 2 small flatblade screws on either side. Soak it in acetone while actuating it's lever and then blow dry. If that doesn't restore the speeds, it may be too worn. I wouldn't oil it as oil spreads. ...
