I would be interested in usage reports too. I mailed them to confirm compatibility with European voltage/frequency (yes) and shipping (50 bucks) but there are still some questions in my mind regarding stability of an arca-style clamp added to their top plate, and the accuracy and precision of the 10...

Re: Raynox 250 or extension tubes
Hi, was wanting to know what would be the best set up to get closer again Raynox 250 or extension tubes, thanx for any help on this. :) The answer depends to some extent on what lens you want to use it with. Lenses that use internal focus or close range correction tend not to do well with extension...

The Raynox 250 is a fairly good quality +8 diopter close-up lens. Its a 3 elements in 2 groups achromat, and is multicoated. However, the diameter is not that large and the adaptor to mount onto the filter threads is plasticy. (Is it ok to post links to other fora? I maintain a list of close-up lens...

Re: wasp eye at 10X
- Longitudinal CA is very high  - Zerene Pmax did an admirable job, not only giving a near artifact free image but also removing efectively almost all longitudinal CA :D Longitudinal/axial CA is indeed very high and the secondary spectrum is the classic magenta in front / emerald green behin...

Well surely as its marked 'Macro lens' then surely it is a dedicated macro lens, not an enlarging lens, and designed to be used the conventional way? Yes, but likely for use at lower magnifications than 1:1. Nikon are quite precise ('Micro' lenses go up to but not beyond 1:1, 'macro' lenses go beyo...

Olympus 38 mm f/2.8 bellows macro is my personal favorite, see HERE . Paul, Rik; thanks for the pointer. I will look into it. Is the older, f/3.5 one any good? Reversed EL Nikkor 50 mm f/2.8 also works well, though not up to the OM. Avoid the 50 mm f/4. I have been collecting data on the optimal ma...

Good 5x lenses
As a side comment in another discussion , I saw: The thing is, as has been discussed before, at 5X there are many good options for lenses, many of which are less cumbersome. A forum search on 5x gave no hits, though; perhaps the search term is too short, or something. I'm interested in the 3x to 5x ...

Re: Tube lens
Hi, I found this diagram of a zeiss tube lens, it may be as simple as it seems? http://fermionlattice.wdfiles.com/local--files/zeiss-microscopes/zeisstubelens Joaquim If it is that simple, would an achromatic +5 diopter close up lens (+5D = 200mm) also function as a tube lens? (Hi. First post. Have...
