Re: AstrHori 25mm f/2.8 2x-5x full-frame macro lens
shots were taken in the setup shown above with one lightsource. Between the change of the lenses light and subject were left untouched. First image set is from stack made with Helicon method B straight from jpgs of a Sony A7R4, 5x magnification f2.8. Laowa: Laowa_butterfly_1000px.jpg crop_Laowa_butt...

Re: AstrHori 25mm f/2.8 2x-5x full-frame macro lens
Gentlemen could we please agree to keep this thread about the AstrHori and discuss personal lens preferences on another place - Thank you.. I just came back from my friend and today we tested the AstrHori against the Laowa: IMG_4072.jpeg The AstrHori is darker, has considerable less contrast and has...

Re: Componon 28mm f/4 /w RF 100mm
please come back and share your results. A 28mm stacked on a 100 will roughly be 4x so in the range of the Laowa. I doubt there will be a bigger improvement over the Laowa.

Re: kitchen ant
So here is a wider crop of the same image, and here we can definitely see the same two pieces of debris on the mandible and palp. Whew! https://janrik.net/MiscSubj/2024/KitchenAnt_20240122/2024-02-18-07.03.05-ZS-stereo_000_crop1Small.jpg --Rik I took this photo, changed the both half-pics in order ...

Re: Lens with fungus and effect on image quality
... I am interested only if there is visible image degradation which can be detected somehow... I think you will notice a drop in contrast because of the stray light caused by fungus/structures, probably sharpness will maintain. If you do a nightshot I would expect a halo around a bright light sour...

Re: AstrHori 25mm f/2.8 2x-5x full-frame macro lens
I mailed AstrHori if I could have the 5:1 macro lens in order to compare it with a Laowa and a 5x Mitutoyo and publish the results here in this forum. Therefore I would like to have not only 1 week for return but extended to 4 weeks. After several emails forth and back they denied a longer return ti...

what do you mean by "curvature"? Do you get sharp results with stacked images (what should be the case) or do the corners stay unsharp?

Re: P. ulysses with the "weird Nikon"
And thanks for the link, Lothar, the video from that Dutchman is really interesting, Hmmm, ... even for aquatic organisms only, the price of the 1501-9398 is so attracive... and coverslips with a nominal thickness of 0,4 mm are readily available ... but the same seller offers the "normal" version f...

I have never tried the Loreo Maxi viewer that you link to. BTW, that link says "currently unavailable", and the Loreo website says they now only deal through 3dstereo.com . Re: Debunking the high NA / coverslip correction myth
Edit: changed the coverslip - no luck, contrast is still very poor. My friend told me these are cheap, chinese coverslip, but it's glass, not plastic, so not sure if a "better" coverslip would make a big difference (if any). have you tried to blacken the edge of the coverslip? Otherwise I think the...

Re: P. ulysses with the "weird Nikon"
Have you ever used such an "unbranded" 1501-9398 20x Nikon with good results? Or if not, do you expect they could give good results by your refocussing method? I ask since they are cheaper than the branded ones... after all we disadvantaged Europeans have to pay extra shipping costs and VAT when or...

Re: This 5 pack of 1970-1980s wafers for $40 a suitable test target, or too old/big?
and I'm wondering if they're probably a good enough test target with tiny features for quickly drawing a conclusion on comparing my 40x and 50x objectives as well as improvements (flocking), or if they're old enough that the features might be bigger than I'm hoping for and if that might make it har...

Re: Focus again with the Canon MP-E 65mm
Understood. Thanks. And is there another Swebo model that allow to change the orientation of the clamping mechanism? as I wrote already in an earlier answer search for Swebo Ls18r what can be freely rotated. If the screw patterns of the LS18 / SWEBO MicroMover LS001 are quadratic you also should be...

Re: Focus again with the Canon MP-E 65mm
I just don't understand what the problem is with mounting the MP-E on this Swebo, with the help of a small Arca plate between? There must be some confusion here on my part? That will work of course, but as mentioned for a lens collar with Arca dovetail you need a different orientation. If you are s...
