Guercini, Here are a bunch where electronic flash was used to stop motion. https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11702 https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35158 https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32234 https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/vie...

To check for coverage it will be fine. But the "B" coating reflects too high a percentage of light wavelengths up to about 500nm (see chart and spreadsheet here: https://www.thorlabs.com/newgrouppage9.cfm?objectgroup_id=12767 ) I think you will find it does not give good color for imaging or light t...

Saul,

They show the "A" coating as in stock. Why not get the "A"?

I once ordered a "B" coated Thorlab condenser lens by accident, and it was unsuitable for use in the visible wavelengths.

Ken,
You have a knack for finding these. Such an odd life cycle. How long will a subject like this remain in good "photographic condition" if not disturbed?

Walter, You cut them without fixation on a vibratome? I suppose the tissue was strong enough to be sectioned? They were fresh subjects and were embedded in agarose which helped a great deal. Seeds were a problem with subjects like the "grape" tomato, because they would often get pushed through the s...

Midge wings

Sort of a plain wing, but I like the subdued interference colors that show up in various places, as well as the shape at the inner top. I think this a "thin film interference" (like in a soap bubble) and not the more familiar structural color found in beetles/butterflies caused by micro structures. ...

I've been very happy with the 50D that you suggested years ago too. It's still a very good microscope camera if you don't need video. As I mentioned, but will emphasize again, on a microscope all those pixels (32,5Mp) are really only of use in a quite limited number of cases. Mainly direct projecti...

I'm now using a 90D (APS-C) and an EOS-R (full frame). I changed primarily to have a fully electronic shutter in both full frame and APS-C. For continuous light this is fantastic and I would not want to go back to any type of mechanical shutter. But... the reason I asked about flash is that Olympus ...

What lighting do you typically use? Flash, continuous tungsten, continuous LED?

Let me know and I'll have a suggestion or two.

Fantastic!. The clarity really surprises me for circular oblique. Do I understand correctly... you used a 0.8 NA dry darkfield condenser? (In addition to the lens iris and condenser height).

Looks quite good, rendered the fines hairs superbly. This is a great test subject. (What stacking method?) . Working distance is 0.7mm, so yes, this will be something to deal with! (I picked up a BD version awhile ago, but have barely played with yet).
