I looked up the Goat Moth Bruce and it is identical except for the colouring. The goat was browner whereas these guys were grey, black and white - oh and blue. Cheers Sam :D Thanks Sam, I've been watching your postings with some interest. You're certainly getting some interesting bugs 'over there'....

You are right you have named the moth to the Family, it gets a bit hard after that , particularly with resting specimens of adult moths That is why we have to use set material for taxonomic identification Your Wood Moth is a member of the Genus ENDOXYLA and is probably the species encalypti Herrich...

... I'm left wondering how the shadows underneath the subject would look if you actually diffused the bottom flash through the base material in the same way as the walls with the other two flash units? Ah, now that's another setup I have which I didn't post here, yet :) Are you trying to eliminate ...

Hi Andrew, Well done mate, and again the images of your set-up contribute 'a thousand words'. I'm left wondering how the shadows underneath the subject would look if you actually diffused the bottom flash through the base material in the same way as the walls with the other two flash units? Are you ...

Hi Andrew, Another beautiful set-up. I made a somewhat larger one out of 3mm poly sheeting but it seems to be too thick and requires serious lighting on the outside to properly illuminate the subject inside the tunnel? Can you give me some details on the two flash arms and how you actually fire the ...

Such a positive result. It is nearly hard to understand how there can be sooo much difference. . . :-k Could this curveature of the diffuser be carried into the field so that the light from above wraps around the subject in a similar way? Most diffusers, that I have seen, are either flat or convex, ...

Hi Craig, It might be worth remembering that fitting the flash diffuser to the flash head automatically triggers the flash to zoom setting of 14/17mm. At least it does on the Nikon speedlites, and at this setting, I'm unsure as to whether the TTL system will work properly because the flash is unable...

Hi Craig, Have the Canon flash units got the same little put out/down diffusion panel that the Nikon units have? This little panel, when deployed, cover a lens of 14mm and surely spreading the beam to that width should be enough to 'break-up' the beam inside the diffuser and get it bouncing around a...

Hi Craig,
No mention of the success, or otherwise, of the diffuser tests?
Seems to be pretty bright reflections in the DF's eyes though?
All the best for the new year BTW,

Hi John, Excellent report and very encouraging about the accuracy of these small units. I am in the process of awaiting the arrival of a couple of the RRS cold shoes for the SB-R200 units, Santa seems to have slowed down a bit over the Atlantic? Anyway, I also ordered a couple of the macro arms that...
