I can not answer your questions, but probably you can ask Mark Berkery at https://beingmark.com/macro-illustrated/ . My understanding is that he uses a M43 camera coupled with a 60 mm Olympus macro and Raynox lenses, as you can see in his blog, he does get spectacular results.

Hi Jean-Marc.

For the sake of the forum members not familiar with minerals, the labels in the pictures are apparently in inverse order. Vanadinite is the mineral in the first picture.

I am sorry, I do not own the TG-5. Is just that after reading your original mail this camera came into my mind. Nevertheless, you may try to get some information by asking in one of the forums of dpreview.com (Olympus compact camera talk) https://www.dpreview.com/forums/1008

Good luck.

You may take a look at the Olympus Tough TG-5. It have a "microscope mode" and, as its name imply, is tough enough to be used in the field by kids. Check the following links (there are probably many more): http://asia.olympus-imaging.com/product/compact/tg5/feature4.html https://havecamerawilltravel...

I am currently using a cheap tripod ball head to have more "freedom" in positioning the sample, some times I get it right, many times I fail. As Lou mentioned lighting is essential, I am in a permanent struggle with this issue. Eliminating reflections from the crystals faces, while maintaining the s...

Hi Harald.

Although I agree that the out of focus areas are distracting, I guess that you have found how difficult, sometimes impossible, is to orient the sample in an appropriate way.

Nice picture and sample.

Although this is, apparently, an interesting gadget I do not know why to choose an electro-mechanical device instead of looking for a software driven solution. Probably is just another example of Canon / Nikon refusing to provide their users with the functionality that they deserve, anyway that is a...

I have used Helicon Focus for that particular purpose, by loading 4K snippets shoot with Panasonic cameras, it does work well. I guess that you can download the program and try it.

Most of the sites reporting about this lens quote a minimum working distance of 20cm. However, the specifications sheet at the manufacturer web site specifies 20mm as the minimum working distance (http://www.zyoptics.net/)

Pentax has been including its own version of multi frame high resolution pictures for a couple of years. The K3-II, the K-70 (both APS-C) and the K-1 (full frame) include this option.

Is there a Pentax user in the forum that would like to carry a comparison?

In Post-Focus mode, the Panasonic cameras will automatically take as many pictures as needed to cover the different focal planes of the scene. They come out as "4K pictures" of some 8 Mp size. They can later be stacked by any of the known programs. There is also an Android app (may as well be for IO...
