Nice dragonfly images, Bill. I like chasing them, too. :) The top dragonfly is a Halloween Pennant, I don't know what the middle one is, but the bottom dragonfly is a female Flame Skimmer. Go get us more! :)

I shoot professionally so I can't spend a whole lot of time spotting out dust in images. By the same token, I can't stop and blow off the sensor every time I change lenses, either. I use Dust-Aid on all my cameras (20D, 30D, and 1D MkII) once a week. Dust-Aid is a tacky strip that literally picks du...

I like things as they are now, Rik. I would not care to go back to the "good ol' days". :) Probably the key piece of equipment in this setup is the small Jobu gimbal head. If you have never used a gimbal head with a telephoto lens you're missing out on a versatile piece of equipment. I can smoothly ...

Hi ya' Rik,

The reason I have it set up this way is so that I can retain autofocus with the 20D camera. If I go lens + tube + teleconverter I lose autofocus.

Best regards, :)

My new close-up rig...

http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/2_newrig_1.jpg Strictly speaking, this new rig is for close-up images rather than macro images. I only got to test it out for about an hour, yesterday. 1. Canon EF 300mm f 4L IS lens 2. Jobu Jr. gimbal head 3. Velbon El Carmagne 630A tripod 4. Acratech ...

Beautiful captures Tom! :smt023 I have a question too. Is your sensor so free of dust (very clean sky) or it is post processing? Or maybe this problem is mainly visible on macros when apreture is stopped far down? Nikola, I try to keep my sensor as clean as possible but I still get dust spots. I cl...

I think dragonflies are the insect world's equivalent of hummingbirds. :) If I can photograph hovering hummingbirds why not photograph hovering dragonflies? :) http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/2_wgliderhover01_1.jpg Wandering Glider Dragonfly. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userp...
