I once had similar issues. It turned out to be not quite fully seated M.2 extension card. Yours could naturally be something completely different. My PC is overclocked however it has been stable for years. I have removed the overclock to see if that helps. Hardware should be fine ... 1.5kW PSU, liq...

Hi; When viewing the raw images with default windows photo app I had problems like this before. Did you try opening the corrupted raw image with capture one or lightroom etc? Just an experience. If there is no difference I also think it is about usb ports, try using the main usb ports on motherboar...

As I said there is no card reader. I do not have another camera I can tether, and I do not have another PC unfortunately. Shutter count is much less than what I had on the much poorer built T3i before the 7D II so I do not think it is that.Macro_Cosmos wrote:I'll start with using another camera to shoot tethered.

Why do I get image corruption?
I have a Canon 7D II tethered via USB3 to a Windows 10 PC. PC is very high end, worked for two years fine. Same with the camera. The USB3 cable is up to spec, also high end. Suddenly I am getting 1 - 5 corrupt images when shooting tethered in a session of about 1600 photos. Why is that? The actual R...

Brownian Motion
I just want to confirm - is this below brownian motion? I prepared some milk diluted with water and dyed with blue food dye. I placed that under a slide under a 60x objective and took a short video of the motion of what I believe to be the fat lipids in the milk.

Re: Saltwater Samples
I collected them from White Rock Pier in White Rock, BC (Canada). If I recall correctly I would have used a 10µm net to trawl the water.MikeBradley wrote:Excellent images, thanks for posting them.
Perhaps you could briefly explain how the samples were obtained? Thank You

Thanks, Rik. It is very possible - I am not a specialist in the subject matter! Any corrections will be appreciated.rjlittlefield wrote:Lovely images!
I'm having trouble seeing image #4 as rotifers, however. To me they look more like tintinnid ciliates. Perhaps one of our specialists can chime in?

Here is a scale and another shot. The granules do not polarize, at least, when I photographed them I could barely notice any colour in the granules under cross polarizers.

Can anyone ID this bacteria? (Yeah I know...)
I get that it is near impossible to ID bacteria from a light microscope image alone without staining / other processing, but is it possible to narrow this down at least? It is long white filamentous bacteria that grows on newly introduced wood in a tropical aquarium - presumably feasting on sugars o...
