The Iris is beautifully round, closes to 1mm and has 14 blades; Here are some back of the envelope calculations, I would be interested to see if I have got them right. A 10x/0.25 objective has an effective aperture at 10x of m/2NA = 10/0.5 = f/20 with a 20μm CoC c, and 550nm wavelength λ,...

I can see that the thin objective adapters, screwing into the body of the iris housing, give a shorter distance between the objective and the iris than would be provided with the existing objective to m52 adapters. For use with infinity objectives and (non-M42-mounted) tube lenses, M42 macro reversi...

Re: Question? About Mitutoyo M Plan 20x NIR objective

also one more think what Adapters can i use to mount this objective on a bellows ? By 'bellows' do you mean 'on a lens'? This is an infinity objective, it needs a tube lens. Assuming it has the same mount as the apo version then you would use an adapter from 26mm 36tpi (see FAQ ) to 52mm and then, ...

No, only if your camera is specially modified to remove the IR-blocking filter which sits in front of the sensor.

Hi, and welcome to the forum. Your logic seems to be clear. I think the flaw is that Nikon specifies the image circle to be 25mm while it is at least that and a good bit more. We know this because the objective can be used at lower magnifications (with a tube lens of lower focal length, down to 105 ...

A better description here - starts with defining two types of chromatic aberration and explains what apochromatic and achromatic mean.

Re: Question? About Mitutoyo M Plan 20x NIR objective

The Mitutoyo M Plan APO NIR series is additionally designed to be apochromatic. This means that chromatic aberrations are corrected at two points in the specified spectrum. While agreeing in general with your post above - at three points, surely, for apochromatic. Two for achromatic. [Typo fixed by...

Laurie, thanks for responding. I wasn't sure how long these aphids would sit still enough for a stack. And it would not have occurred to me to try and stack a live subject (with more than 2 or 3 shots, anyway). I can see a benefit of a live shot, the legs, antennae etc are in realistic positions. I ...

OK: I want to take extreme closeups of insects. I have a Sigma SD14 DSLR (using Foveon technology). I also have a 105mm Macro lens (APS equivalent=158mm). I want to marry this lens to a microscope objective. I am thinking a Nikon 10x NA 0.25. Is my 105mm lens long enough to accommodate this microsc...
