The fine focus travel is limited and does not move the entire length available to the focus block.

Non-coaxial focus blocks

I am going to have a go using a Zeiss focus block that is non-coaxial for focus stacking but will need a mechanism for moving the focus with the coarse focus wheel when the stack depth exceeds the fine focus travel. One way to achieve this is to mark the position of the block once the fine focus tra...

LED driver

I'm looking for an off the shelf solution for over driving an LED. My friend uses a buck converter but this requires a resistor to be changed on the circuit board and a potentiometer to be wired in as well. It is important that the LED does not produce flicker on video. I have found a unit but is do...

Flexible arms for flash and LED lights

I will be using Nikon flashguns which can be mounted on holders with a 1/4" female hole. My LED lights weigh 500g each. I can drill and tap holes into my aluminium baseboard. I'm looking for options for holding these with flexible arms. One possibility is to use Locline. Any other ideas? Thanks Andy

I've been trying to find the thread for the last couple of hours that detailed a shopping list for the connectors needed to connect a Mitty to a Raynox to Nikon bellows. I'm in the UK if anyone can help with a list of suppliers and parts.

Many thanks.

tube lens for Mitutoyo lenses

There has been a lot of discussion regarding this on the forum and the consensus seems to be that using the Raynox tube lenses provide an excellent solution. One thread mentioned the Fujinon A 180mm to work well which has got me thinking about the possibilities of using say Hasslebald lenses plus Mi...

Maybe an option is to run the camera in DX mode. What would be the best option then?

I'm locked in to a Nikon D810 so the Canon 5DSR isn't an option

Best lens option/setup for 5x mag

I'm just about to embark on purchasing lenses for an optical bench setup that will use stepper motors to move a Nikon D810 on a microscope stage. I have a bellows and Nikkor 60mm at the moment. I have looked at the lens reviews on the coinimaging website but there may be options not tested there. I ...

Kohzu or Thorlabs goniometers

I'm looking to get a set of goniometers and would be interested in people's view on these makes? Pros and cons of Kohzu versus Thorlabs?

Thanks

After a few emails and a telephone call with Nikon NPS it turns out that the video signal collected from the sensor is only 8 bit and so any WB correction is applied to this signal as I first thought. In light of this, which would be the recommended LED? The brighter and little colour tint 6000K one...

I'm using a Nikon D810 that has Bayer array. I've emailed Nikon technical support as to when the WB correction is made. I'm an NPS member but doubt whether they will give an info on this as they are very secretive when it comes to technical details. Does the brightness (power) difference between the...
