Some new tools for my stacking unit.

I made some new tools for the stacking unit. The intention is to also use the standard 74x26mm slides in vertical position. A second tool makes it possible to use the cover slips 24x24mm. Also, darkfield illumination, I can use it now. For certain applications these are useful tools. For the darfiel...

This is a top view of the same small fly. Tomorrow the Mitty 2X lens comes, then I can easily get a full picture. Zerene stack Pmax + StereoPhotoMaker. 105 steps @ 17 um. Nikon D7100 + AFD 200 F4 ISO 200 Mitutoyo M Plan APO 5X Not as nice as the first close-up but possibly useful to find the ID. htt...

Your recommendation of Pinnacle Studio 19 Ultimate software is news to me--I was not aware of it prior to your mention. But now, I'm doing my reading about it. I have attached a 2TB USB hard drive to the 3D TV. All my finished 3D images and videos will be put thereon. It can also via DVD or Blu-ray...

Thanks everyone! Unlike the higher-magnification Mitutoyo objectives, the 2x does exhibit transverse chromatic aberration, which I've found very easily correctable in post (as simple as clicking a check-box in Nikon raw-conversion software). See here for a demonstration. Thanks Chris, for the demo o...

For now I have to wait for delivery. Once she is here, I can test them. I definitely give the results. The order goes via "EO" Update: In the past I have made many tests with several chips to make measurements such as an EPROM, a Nikon D100 sensor, a video chip, a LCD Display. With Mit 10X and 5X le...

Hi Frans, Mitu 2x has bad quality - Mitu 5x with Raynox DCR-250 is much more better and it is my choice for this range (and Componon 80mm 4.0). Mitu/Raynox combination performed better than Canon Macrophoto 35mm 2.8 also (at the same range). Saul Just a little too late, the lens is ordered. I will ...

Thanks Walt!

I'm sorry that I do not know the fly ID. That's why I want a 2X lens Mit too. So I'd better make an overview picture.

Thanks Rik! We rarely see a proboscis like this, with its end expanded into something close to its feeding position. Did you do something special, or just get lucky with a fresh specimen? No, I do nothing special. I always use the same method: The insect is collected in a small box. The box as quick...

Smiling with open mouth.

Small flies seem to be very beautiful and colorful. I had the Mit 10X lens required for this shot. A total of 158 steps of 7 um Zerene stacking Pmax, a little editing, crop and resize. As usual with LED lighting and background color LEDs, mirror-up mode and use of my dark room around the setup. http...

Can I have your old one? :smt026 ? Ha ha not easy, only a base ring must be replaced where the leds are mounted on. The core and the outer casing with diffuser remain the same. With the old LEDs I can make another circular ring. Which would highlight the edges even better. I have the time, it is no...

Thanks Chris! I quite satisfied with my LED lighting. Finding the right setting is very fast. Exposure times are almost always right. Changing the Mitutoyo lens, 10x, 5x proceeds rapidly because the LED module was created specifically for this purpose. Planning is taken to also purchase the 2X lens ...

Yes this linear stage has a range of 250 mm. In fact, this is not really necessary but useful. You can use different camera or lenses and work less close if needed. I was Lucky to buy this linear stage very cheap. including the stepper motor controller and connection cable. There is no slack on the ...
