To take macro pictures of opals you would be much better served by a a camera with macro capability even if it is "only" a point and shoot. Before I would buy an AmScope I would search ebay for a used GIA Gemolite. Even shooting pictures through the ocular of that , using a relatively recent smartph...

It would be fairly easy and even somewhat reasonable to attach a microscope objective to an M3 S Type. But it would be pretty cumbersome to use. You would have to unscrew the objective and screw in a down sizing adapter that would have the same male thread as the objective, (I think 50mm on the S ty...

A couple of experience points: I use the wedged rubber from the first type as a clamping surface on the second type adapter(which has a helical screw clamp like a drill chuck) which makes it work. It really doesn't work without it. I keep my Samsung S6 in an otterbox case but it needs to be nekkid t...

Has anyone ever heard of or tried using an acquarium Ozone generator for diatoms? That seems like it might be worth trying. There is a retired diatomist at our University but he isn't willing to try it out even though I have the ozone gen to contribute. These kind of restrictions are coming here too...

In 1980 I was a product manager for these instruments. My suggestion to you would be to mount the Interphako device on any more modern reasearch grade stand if you can make the adaptation. If you find an Amplival out there don't pay too much for it. Make sure all the movements will move. They used a...

Yeah it's the SL-10 and the cartridge case is gold. I haven't figured out how to pull the cartridge but I think you undo an anchor/locking screw and pull it off. Then it will go under the scope. I suspect it just wore down to a nub. I used the turntable A LOT. I always marveled at how great it sound...

I have a very interesting stylus that needs to be photographed. I am also an audio nut. I have this machine built by Technics in the eighties. It is a straightline tracking turntable with a built in arm. It has a moving coil cartridge (a P mount or what ever it was called) and the stylus is a boron ...
