What temperature does your nitric acid get to with that set-up? Did you try sulphuric acid as an alternative or have you only used fuming nitric? One tip that the people who do this routinely use is to put the chip package into a mesh "tea-ball". Makes it easy to rinse, and you are not fishing aroun...

Technically that is a coarse CMOS image sensor fundamentally similar to what is used in a camera. The pixels are much larger, and it is has no color filters. In each of the squares is a photodiode.

Thats a really old chip. The structures in the top image are vernier gauges that were used to optically check the photo-lithographic alignment between layers. Normally they would have been destroyed during the chip separation and are not visible in packaged chips. They stopped being used in the late...

Thanks for the feedback about the LED's. I will look at getting a high power single chip LED. I would like to be able to use dark field so I think it needs a good brightness level. It also has the benefit of 12V operation, so lots more choice for driver chips and modules. In your comments you both r...

Help with Olympus BH2 (Reflected Light) LED retrofit

Hi, this looks like the right place to get some help on re-builiding a microscope illumination system. I have a metallurgical Olympus BH2 (BHT model?) unfortunately the illumination lamp and tubing is missing broken off at the condenser aperture diaphragm. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userp...
