X-Y rotational stage - what is it from?

This was going to be discarded, found in our lab, no one knows what it was from, may have been from previous tenant. Needs cleaning and TLC. Looks like a device for aligning something inside of the smaller hole, under the cover glass. Massive, must weight at least 10-12 pounds , overall about 4" x 5...

Useful Life for a Camera Body

By vintage and trustworthy Canon 10D body now has 16,000 exposures, and I am accumulating another 500 or so shutter clicks a week, thanks to focus stacking! I am getting the occasional "error code 99", suggesting that electric contacts are starting to go bad, amongst other parts. I don't want to be ...

I found my 28/f2.8 wide angle lens, I used to have a 24mm but must have sold it. Reverse mounting with a Novoflex adapter and adding 68 mm of extension tubes gives just the range I am looking for. I actually used this set up many years ago, but had forgotten about it; thanks Charles for the gentle p...

Charles

It's been a long time since I used my 24 mm, and I have a reverse adaptor for automatic use, I'll give it a try and see what the results look like

thanks, Jeff

Filling the field of view gap with a reversed 28 mm lens

Looking for some recommendations for either additional accessories or lens, or both. Right now, I use my Canon 50 mm macro, with or without extension tubes, for field of views as small as 2-3 cm I use my El Nikkor 50/2.8 enlarging lens, reversed, with or without extension tubes, for field of views a...

Pararobertsite from South Dakota

I am finally happy with my set-up, having made some small but significant tweaks - addition of a Jin Finance iris (see here ) and taking the suggestion from harisA to do some PS work to reduce the purple fringing (see near end of this post . The iris adds a bit of depth of field, but more importantl...

thanks for the tip. I found that by pushing the saturation slider to max, the selection of the purple fringe and its color range is much easier, and you can tell if any parts of the image amy be negatively impacted.

Interesting units

How convenient are they for manual focus stacking - can you get 50 to 100 steps per millimeter of travel in z-direction?

Also, how far are you from New Haven, CT, and would you meet half way?

thanks, Jeff
