Until now, i've been stiching with Photoshop CC. But only few days ago i've downloaded ICE, and i just have to say WOW.

When PS fails miserably after hours of work, ICE does splendid job in few minutes. I trongly encourage anyone interested with stiching to give a shot to this free program.

As for dovetail itself, if you can afford some extra bucks, buy directly from zeiss: https://www.micro-shop.zeiss.com/?s=164142979eb8460&l=en&p=us&f=c&a=s&ct=DSC&cp=101&cc=c1165&cm=m1108 If not, scourge ebay for parts donors ie: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LOMO-extetion-PHOTO-tube-Carl-Zeiss-binocular-...

If there is glass in the filter, it's rather undesirable, unless you got some specific aplication. If there is no glass inside, you can purchase "filter adapter" of desired size for cheap. Search ebay for appropriate model, ie: filter adapter 52 My guess is that referenced image is just an UV filter...

Afaik high end objectives are not really repaired anyway. Best case scenario is that one lens group is replaced, worst case scenario, you get whole set of new optics in old skin. So mentioned earlier quote from Zeiss is quite fair, as i would expect that they would simply supply a new (mostly or ful...

I guess we are all different. Ie: I have whole shelf of unused, book-size sony camera manuals, once could say brand new  I love that feeling, when after using a piece of equipment for years, you discover a new function, only to find out it was all in the manual (but that might be exclusive to S...

Actually, it's the other way around. Woman is more likely to read WHOLE manual before using the equipment. Man is more likely to give it a go, and only look at bits of manual only if he cant figure it out. I know that's true in my manly case  Only exception is when i order some toys, and cant w...

Front for video CCD. Rear "side" for low and high iso 35mm automated photography (back then we actually often wanted 3 ports: low iso brightfield, medium DIC, high fluorescence). Top is for medium / large format / manual 35mm. In my cases that was used with 35mm film and ISO exceeding auto (side por...

Yes, it works better. But trade off is that it changes DOF while moving, so you need to stack a lot more frames.

Very nice stage Chris! Looks like one fancy "CSI" bullet comparision stages?

I've purchased "classic" goniometers. 60x60 with 80mm WD and 40x40x20 with 60mm WD for 35 and 25 USD respectively. Those are amazing tools, i cant imagine how i've managed to take stacks without those now :)
