Coated clear-glass-filter *behind* older optics for digital?
I just had this idea, certainly not new, I'm not even sure about my premises, but let me sketch it out: Premise 1: I've read that new, "digital optimized" lenses have a specially coated back element to mitigate reflection effects by the sensor. Premise 2: I doubt many of the enlarger lenses in use f...

Are microlens arrays really "expensive"? I've not been able to find a price. I'll contact a distributor to find out, but that'll take a while these days. Will they ship a sample to non-company people? I had no trouble ordering a sample as a 'non-company' consumer. With "sample" I meant larger sheets...

That's effective f/52 on an APS-sized sensor -- so deep into diffraction territory that his 10 MP camera is actually acting more like 1.5 MP. But the result works great. Yes, it would be fuzzy at actual pixels and full camera resolution, but it's still sharp enough to capture the ommatidia of the e...

One thing I dislike about it: The aperture isn't that nicely shaped, so the out of focus blur can look a bit nasty at times. But that's hard to produce at these magnifications ;). Edit: Found a picture on flickr by someone else which shows it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/naadodi/6617779097/ Canon s...

With such a small creature, how on earth would one photograph it in the field? I don't see how a person could see one except by accident while photographing something else. While they're asleep, I guess. Springtails aren't easy to photograph, either, but there are photos of them. Alternatively, one...

A spray can of 'Plasti Dip Flexible Rubber Aerosol' may be useful in this situation. I haven't used the product but made a note of it when it crossed my path. Apply gradually in very thin layers. Some people are painting their cars with this stuff...plenty of videos on YouTube. *Use at your own dis...

Minolta Compact Bellows -- not exactly light tight.
Hi, I got two of these compact and lightweight bellows on eBay and managed to adapt one of them to M39 which I can use on any bayonet. At the other side I use a simple MD>M39 adapter. A picture can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/70078248@N00/4504239200/ (not my flickr page). I had plann...

They seem to be using the LSD-type diffusor that has been discussed in this forum already:

Nor the UK ones. Sometimes it takes weeks from the US. No idea why, or if the delay is in the UK or US. Nothing's ever been opened. Mine neither. It's usually customs that takes forever in my experience. My order from HK has arrived after two months, the one before took two weeks. Only difference w...
