No, I didn't know Rodenstock even made a Trinar 20mm! You can get three for $25 here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rodenstock-Trinar-f2-5-20mm-vintage-lens-NOS-Lot-of-3-pcs/302074840533 I've bought from this seller before and I think I mentioned to you that once they threw in a different lens or two fo...

Nice test and interesting results! By any chance have you tried the Rodenstock Trinar f2.5/20mm? The Makro-Symmar 5.6/120 happened to already be on the camera....but the makro-Symmars for some time were available for $299 with free Fedex, I shared the link here on the forum at that time so $1000 isn...

I've used Robert's advice on a horizontal setup as well and it works good enough.

Though I am tempted to switch to a vertical rig for making this kind of thing easier.

I guess starting out the stacks will be smaller and less ambitious, and bigger subjects, I'm not sure if I will go with led lighting or use some studio strobes. lots to plan, and decide. thanks for all the input. still can't figure out the rail issue, but lens coming in on Tuesday so need to figure...

kaleun96 wrote: "for deep stacks it will really save you time and energy." I have never felt the need for an automatic rail, but perhaps I have never run 'deep stacks' I just manually stacked a micro (moth) using 2 flashes. 1st image was at 3.26 pm the 61st at 3.29 pm. Not sure what I could do in t...

I can't speak to the quality of either but they both look nice. The Kirk rail could be more steady given the dual guide rails but I have a Sunwayfoto rail that is similar to the SWEBO and I don't notice much side-to-side movement. Most of that comes from the ballscrew and I've had rails with dual gu...

Re: Small clip on system

Where did you get the small plastic alligator clip that would hold a subject in front of the lens? And does it have a pre-drilled hole in the end of the clip to attach to the articulated arm? https://www.kjell.com/se/produkter/el-verktyg/verktyg/matinstrument/matsladdar-prober-kontakter/krokodilkla...

I'm experimenting with LEE diffuser sheet #400 Lee lux and I'm pleased with what it does with the shiny highlights on metallic subjects... retains a lot of detail in the critical areas. I'm sorry for the really sloppy picture.. It's just a test crash dummy missing body parts. And I'm unsure about p...

That makes sense, I was thinking you might've been shooting at a much lower magnification (1-5X).

Thanks for the video, it's a bit easier to see what's going on! You did well to build all three axes of movement into the camera mount and fit it all on a tripod. Are you mostly shooting within a specific magnification range with only a couple of lenses or objectives? Curious to know whether you run...

I think it's good at that price point but I would prefer the Sony A6500 or Fuji X-T3 myself, though they are more expensive. The lack of EVF is a big negative for me and I'm not a fan of the EF-M mount. I'm after a more prosumer grade APS-C and the M6 mkII definitely isn't that, the closest we have ...

Very nice! Do you have a better photo of the side, curious to see what you have there that's presumably raising and lowering the camera.

I will have to wait for a7000 :-) BR, Adi Yes, I'm hesitant to buy an A6600 or A7 III if they might release a proper flagship APS-C with a 32MP sensor in the next year or two: https://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr5-specs-of-the-new-sony-imx510-32-megapixel-aps-c-sensor/ On the other hand, don't want t...
