Nikon CFI 2x & 4x Plan Apo, 10x Plan Fluor

Hi all, I am continuing to clean up my unneeded lenses and have a few infinity-corrected Nikon CFI lenses that are desirable for low magnification microscopy and macrophotography. For sale is: 2x/0.1 Plan Apo WD: 8.5mm Excellent condition with only a small water spot on the front lens. After photogr...

Chris, I think this is a perfect idea. It didn't occur to me to use the shorting as a means of signaling. I found a step-by-step diagram of wiring up a 555 timer here: http://www.instructables.com/id/555-Timer/all/?lang=ja I hope to get to work on it this week and will let you know the results. Than...

Just a quick update... With the D70 set to a long exposure, I was finally able to measure the voltage out of the PC sync cord. I also removed the Wein Safe-Sync as I no longer need it and replaced it with a AS-15 hotshoe to PC Sync mount. The output voltage from this is 0.45v, far less than the 5v n...

DSLR triggering advice

Hi all, I need some advice from those members that are more electronically savvy than I am. I am working on a project where I need to send a 5v trigger to an external flash device. The flash is made by Rapp Optoelectronic and has two triggering options: a BNC input and a BNC output. The camera I am ...

Hi Abel,

Can you describe how the flash is triggered? I do not see a connection on the camera that would allow for a flash to be coupled to it (unless the pictures online are not right).

Thanks!

Chris

The Standard 16 and 18 share the same focus block... not sure about the 14, but it would seem silly that they would have changed it. I'll let you know if I find anything specific to that stand.

Hi Pau, I only have a paper copy on hand and my scanner is broken at the moment (. You can see this on a different publication, specific to the Standard 18 Pol, but I assure you it is the same in the older models: http://tinyurl.com/6ve864v Please see the note for part 19 on page 3. If and when I ge...

Hi Pau,

It was from the Zeiss literature. The Standard 16 and Standard 18 are 5 micron steps. The rarer WL stand has 1 micron steps.

Regards,

Chris

Hi Jeff, One graduation on the Zeiss Standard is 5 microns (0.005mm) and has a total travel range of 25mm. 50-100 shots would not be a problem with this system. My intention was to couple this to a stepper motor to have even finer control, but I never got around to it. I am unsure of the step size o...

Macro stands for sale - Leitz Aristophot, Vision Engineering

Hi all, I sold most of my macro stuff a few months ago when I decided to focus on microscopy. Out of laziness, I neglected to put the stands up for sale until now. I am in the process of moving and need to clear out some things I don't want to move. I posted these two setups on Ebay tonight: Leitz A...

Nice image Greg. Just a quick correction... Phalloidin stains the actin (blue in this image) and Hoechst stains the nuclei (red in this image).

Phototaxis in chrysophyte, Heterophrys

In a very old sample, I came across a beautiful example of phototaxis in a chrysophyte alga (perhaps Onchromonas?). I noted that if I dwelled in a single area on the slide too long, it soon became completely flooded with these alga. A fun observation, but it made it very difficult to capture the Het...

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the comments. They are indeed difficult to part with, but I think it will be a two-fold benefit for me. It will free up both time and money to spend on my true passion - microscopy! :D

Just a heads up, there's about 24 hours left on the auctions.

Macro lens sale including Nikon 4x PA & Zeiss Luminars

Hi All, I have been collecting some of the best glass available for studio macro photography, but have finally come to the conclusion that I do not have the time to dedicate to high mag focus stacking and the like. I am still keeping some inexpensive glass (El-Nikkor 50mm, JML, etc.) for when I star...
