Re: Lockdown

In perspective, this panic and paranoia is getting out of hand. We live out in the country, so our exposure is very low. We invited my brother-in-law who lives in New York City to visit with us but he is afaid he won't be able to get back in. Every year about 14,00 people die of influenza in the Un...

Cam, Thanks for the update on these, glad to see someone realize that the Trinamic PCB was seriously hampered by forcing into the Step/Dir mode, and not allowing access to the full suite of chip features. Hopefully these Watterott v1.4 versions will appear over here at Digikey or Mouser so I can ge...

The TMC5160 BOB has SD_MODE (pin 21) tied to ground with R2, and a position for R1 to tie to Vcc_IO. I have no idea why they didn't do this with the StepStick, seems like a silly oversight IMO! Hey Mike, just noticed Watterott now have a v1.4 version of the TMC5160 that can enable the SD_MODE Motio...

If heat is an issue, it might be sufficient to have one panel removed, perhaps the rear one, and the rest should prevent influence from wind. Or maybe some ventilation holes :D I like the idea though and look forward to seeing how it turns out. Instead of flashes, you could mount some reflectors on ...

Thought I'd update everyone on the mounting option I went with. The Raf adapters arrived and worked exactly as expected. It took only 5-10 minutes with a small hobby file to reduce the diameter of the front lip to fit the M50mm adapter. I don't mind the silver-on-black look either. I also really lik...

Someone else on this forum had shared this video that had a good homemade solution to what you're looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97hgW9OjgPI&list=FL7S-5K6FVlW3WZMsqIrmjWA&index=7&t=7s It's only lacking the X and Y adjustments but you can buy a XY macro rail for that and mount it on the...

Thanks for the advice on this Miljenko. I chose an expensive solution in the end but that I think it's better suited for this purpose than either the extension tubes or the SM2 tubes. I got Raf's 50mm bore x M42 threaded clamp adapter to use for the rear and his M50 x M42 threaded adapter for the fr...

Yes, that's the piece you need, along with the 14mm version. But guess what: set consisting of 28, 14 and 7mm tubes (rings) with the end camera/lens adapters cost less: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fotodiox-Extension-Fujifilm-Mirrorless-Photography/dp/B00D9BL20Y/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=fujifilm+extension+...

Did you also need to sand down the knurled lip on the front of the lens? My M52-M50 adapter doesn't fit over it and I can reverse thread the adapter on from the other side.

Hi Cam, just before Robert wakes up and presents his solution, here is how I've done it. It is actually solution #1 as you described it but with a poor man's twist. Instead of SM2 I'm using cheap Chinese extension rings and two M50-M52 adapters. There are actually two extension ring diameters; thos...

Hey Robert, How do you mount this lens specifically? I've read your references to the M52-M50 adapter and your SM2/M52 studio setup but I'm scratching my head about the best way to mount this lens. I'm guessing you could either have two M52-M50 step down rings threaded over the middle part of the le...

I wonder if the flex and play in the mechanics of gorillapod arms and goosenecks help stop them from unthreading compared to rigid Magic/articulating arms. That's always been a problem for me in the field with them, even when mounted vertically, it only takes a small bit of sideways movement with a ...

I was looking at the same item recently but I bought two of these for €56 each instead. Definitely expensive but I was hoping for good quality and something that will last a long time. https://novoflexus.com/products/other-photographic-solutions/flash-holding-system/novoflex-marm-k.htm To be honest...

Hey Mike, I just got into PCB manufacturing myself and have a question about the small holes in the ground plane. I can't work out their purpose. They don't look like vias, I wouldn't think they're required for thermal regulation, I assume they're not helping to reduce impedance or interference wit...
