Did anyone end up testing those 36.6mm f4.9 lenses? I did this stack of a (dusty) ladybug with the 43.53mm today as I was having trouble finding a good lens at the needed magnifcation. Turned out alright but I need to work on the lighting for the next one. http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userp...

Likely a tube lens such as the Redrock Micro 5x. It's a decently high magnification but I think I've pushed the 23/1.4 to about 6.5x or 7x already without issue. Super small DOF though.

Anyway, the only way I see for removing the stop at the moment is drilling it out, either to the desired size directly or completely and replacing it with another one of the desired size. So perhaps I should go and test my regular 23/1.4 to see what the ideal size is and then drill the f/4.0 stop o...

Thanks for the info. I ran a quick 3 image stack with the Nikon vs an Olympus UIS Plan 10x 0.25. Not going to get into 100% crops and pixel peeping here but the Olympus clearly has better contrast but I think the Nikon may just win out in sharpness. Some of the dust grains are a bit fuzzy and with p...

Got it undone! Bought some adjustable pliers and wrapped the objective in the silicone rubber. Surprisingly it came undone very easy, guess I was just missing the extra grip the pliers provide over a smooth-faced handvice. Does anyone know much about this objective by the way? Haven't come across an...

Thanks will order a strap wrench! Though I'm starting to have my doubts. I managed to get a great grip between the vice and silicon rubber but it eventually tore. I think the objective has to be cemented in - surely they can't have tightened it with a tool that much without worrying about over-threa...

Yeah and I'm not sure where I can source a suitable f2 or so disk for this without making one myself. Open to suggestions.

The price on the outlet3d.eu website is $20USD plus $13USD shipping to Sweden for me.

Removing Nikon objective from mount

I got this Nikon EPI E Plan 10x 0.25 WD 12.5 infinity objective off eBay recently. The glass looks good but I can't test it as it's attached to a cylinder barrel of some kind. The barrel had 4 screws and a small flange "holding" in the additional glass at the end of the cylinder barrel but this glas...

I've been a fan of this little lens! Bought one from outlet3d last year and noticed it performed well reversed and stacked.

I've just bought a second to see if the aperture disk can be modified and opened up. BTW the f4 version from eBay is cheaper on their website but perhaps the shipping is more.

These are really good. It is important to use exactly the right extension, which may vary slightly depending on the version. Getting it wrong will increase purple fringing. I recall someone (was it you?) testing how slight changes in extension can have a big effect on this and the conclusion being ...

Sped up the acceleration and deceleration profiles with some other parameters/setups I'm working on and move 1 meter in ~25 seconds. The motor is quite throughout the entire range and it's sitting on a cardboard sounding box. Here's a video showing the performance, the camera was 300~400mm ...

Well let's just say a stand alone 400 step motor transitioning 1000mm, yep 1 meter, in less than 50 seconds including a very long and precise velocity profile for start and stop allowing the same precision and vibration reduction as shown in the 800X video :D Probably 1/3~1/4 the time taken up with...

The properly configured (not optimized though, so maybe more room) TMC5130 can run so fast I won't even post it, as you wouldn't believe me  And it's quite and accurate....not a bad combination IMO How fast are we talking? Just curious as I've had to order in some new pulley wheels to change...
