I like the concept and for 200 euro I think you've done well! My Newport 150x450 breadboard (well it's 300+150 breadboard) cost 130 euro or so alone. I have the same gear from SmallRig too. I like their stuff, though some is stupidly expensive. I recently removed that adapter plate and modified the ...

Looking forward to this one! I like the inclusion of the Komura lens too. As Mike said, the CZ 135mm would be interesting to see. I have one myself but had to give it quite a clean ($8 op-shop purchase) so unsure how representative it would be. Other "regular" 135mm lenses would be good to see as we...

Thanks Leonard, I was also quite impressed! I had tried the Nikon Scanner Nikkor ED (7 element version) and some other lenses but I couldn't quite get the contrast I was after.

Hi kaleun96, Thank you for the info! OK, my rail should run standalone (without any connection to the computer). Therefore I could use UART too (the Pin0 and Pin1 of the UNO). Actually I’m not interested in StallGuard, SilentStep, etc. I would like to have stable steps. Please take a look at my tes...

But I’m not sure if SS of Arduino should go to the CSN of TMC5130. BTW, you have already mentioned boards as: TMC2130, TCM2190, TMC5160, etc. So, which one does work as a driver for the stacking-rail in the best way? BR, ADi Yes the SS pin on Arduino will map to the CSN pin on the TMC5130. Might be...

You folks using Arduinos should collaborate, I can't help much with the Arduino. Definitely! Thinking of starting a thread on this at some stage. Are the smaller footprint 2130 & 2190 boards you mention capable of supporting direct software controlled motor currents (looks like the have pots for cu...

I would probably recommend going with a Trinamic driver that has a user friendly breakout board instead of an eval board, any one of these would do: https://shop.watterott.com/SilentStepStick-TMC5160-Stepper-motor-driver https://shop.watterott.com/SilentStepStick-TMC2130-Stepper-Motor-Driver https:/...

Cameron, how do you intend to use your XNP 23/1.4 (no longer 4.0)? Just with extension or with a tube lens? Likely a tube lens such as the Redrock Micro 5x. It's a decently high magnification but I think I've pushed the 23/1.4 to about 6.5x or 7x already without issue. Super small DOF though. OK, I...

Hi kaleun96, microswitches for endstop detection I don’t detect the range of the rail. My THK KR2001A is long enough. The carriage is placed in the middle of the rail and my stacks are not longer than some millimeters. BTW, I have already tested the crash-situation but absolutely nothing is happeni...

The TMC2130's are only 10 euro (Watterott.com) and you make that money back by not having to buy microswitches for endstop detection

kaleun96, Why would you use the Step and Dir inputs to the Trinamic TMC2130 with Arduino? I haven't used the TMC2130, only the 5130, 5160, 5161 and 5072 but think the TMC2130 has some of the features of these other devices mentioned that have all the basic velocity and positioning details controlle...

I was under the impression that Trinimac configuration removed the need for most libraries and was catered for by the chip itself? You could do it all without any libraries but there are some useful ones. This one by teemuatlut allows you to modify the registry using some simple functions rather th...

Re: Trinimac

As for the Raspberry Pi - I'm reluctant to throw away all of my development effort on a stand-alone controller / TFT screen, Arduino and C# so I'm going to see if I can redesign my code to replace the BigEasyDriver with the Trinimac 5130. If there is anyone interested in this platform I'd welcome a...

Apo-Componon HM 6.7/60 and Moth (Argina astrea)

First proper test on my newly refactored stacking rig with a SK Apo-Componon HM 6.7/60 and Sony A6000. 160 photos at 0.035mm increments for a depth of field of 5.6mm and FOV of ~12mm (approx. 2x mag). At 2 second intervals I completed this shoot in about 3 minutes. I might try pushing it down to 1 s...
