Re: Embossed escutcheons on revenue stamps from the 18th and 19th Century
For me this is both totally lovely and completely unique! I have never heard of this use of escutcheons. I find it impossible to see it as the convex object it really is. Can you? I can!! But the double-exclamation marks are because success came only after what seemed like a minute or more of strugg...

Re: Focus stacking algorithms: Zerene vs Photoshop
mrred, welcome aboard! I can provide partial answers to your questions. A good introduction to the "pyramid" methods that are used by Zerene Stacker PMax and (I presume) by Helicon Focus Method C is provided by https://www.researchgate.net/publication/246727904_Pyramid_Methods_in_Image_Processing , ...

Re: camera for Leica MZ16 microscope
I would be really surprised if that was pixel shifting. The first mode likely is, but the rest are likely automatic stitching combined with the shifting. Possible, but there's no hint of that in the literature I see. From https://downloads.leica-microsystems.com/Leica%20DMC6200/Brochures/Leica_DMC5...

Re: camera for Leica MZ16 microscope
Mike, welcome to the forum! To give a good answer to your question, we'll need some more information about your application and requirements. The DMC6200 is an odd beast. According to https://www.leica-microsystems.com/products/microscope-cameras/p/leica-dmc6200/specification/ , the sensor is only 2...

Re: New 1.4x Lens Test Results Online
Strangely, it seems the 16-shot composite has introduced more false color, where there was less in the single image. I suspect that it has revealed more "real" color. These colors look to me like interference colors formed by small features on the subject, as opposed to false colors introduced by t...

Re: Trouble getting into site.
I'm guessing that by "search box", you must mean the place at top of your browser that used to be reserved for URL's. The problem then must be that instead of taking your type-in to be a URL and just going there, the browser, or more likely a search engine plugin, is treating it as a search string a...

Re: First few days of micro
Thanks again. I think I have considerable experimenting to do. You're very welcome. Keep us informed, please. ...very generous with your time. I look on exchanges like this as being a win-win learning experience. One of the problems I have is that it's no longer possible for me to see focus stackin...

That's a beautiful image!

Re: First few days of micro
The attached are unretouched DMAP Probably you've noticed the bold "swirly" halos in the first image. Those are typical of a 3D structure that has detailed foreground obscuring detailed background, with a sharp edge or even an overhang separating the two regions in depth. Different stacking methods...

Re: Advices for enlarger lens
The lens are, a componon-S 2.8/50 and a componon 28mm f/4. Not sure about El-Nikkor 50mm f:2.8. I read, also on closeuphotography.com that they will work at their best, coupled with a rear lens. The question is, which one do you advise easily to find online? I found the Makro-Symmar 5.9/120 but the...

Your image is not coming up, but I tried the link and the image works with a browser app. The problem here is that the host for the image, www.lolux.de, does not work with HTTPS (secure HTTP). There is some problem with its certificate. The reason that's a problem is that some browsers, notably Chr...
