Hi Ichty,
Yes, the filter with the tread of 43mm can be mounted.
So, an UV-filer (or step down ring) could be destroyed in order to build something like that:
EF-M_28_diff.jpg
But such rings are mostly made of aluminium :-(

Hi AllEx,
DOF (in mm)=0.00055/((NA*NA)) is really good for the microscope lenses.
But I would recommend to measure the magnification it you needed the right values.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of something around $200 or less that would work for me.
My home-made rail can be used for 100x / Na 0.95 and is cheaper than $200.
It bases on the THK KR2001A.
