I think the table is going to be prone to vibrations no matter how you fasten the camera to it, however, if you can drill and tap holes, then it would be easy to make a camera c-clamp. This clamp would probably make a good base. It just needs a hole tapped for a ballhead (or pan and tilt head). Ther...

My guess is the set screw galled the shaft. A bearing (or wheel) puller may be needed to remove the pulley.

You may want to see if they sell the controller separately and if it will support sub-micron steps. Linear slides are easily adapted to stepper motors.

You might try something like this to mount your chip on.

Front surface mirrors are pretty inexpensive from Surplus Shed.

I should have asked, how are you shooting each frame, moving the camera/lens orthogonally or rotating around the entrance pupil?

Magnets are pretty weak in shear. If you get one that is strong enough in shear it will probably be dangerous to handle around ferrous metal. Thanks for the input. Because flat neodimium magnets are inexpensive I could try with low risk, as they are strong perpendicular to the surface, some frictio...

I used a Nextion touchscreen on another project. It uses a serial connection, so only two pins are needed. For focus stacking I used Bluetooth to connect to an Android phone. I think this is more flexible than a touchscreen. The two technologies aren't mutually exclusive so you could have the basic ...

I created it in Fusion 360. I'll have to look at the Openflexure a little more closely.

Yes :D

For everyone else, I posted a link to Dan Gelbarts excellent video on flexures which seem to be an ideal way to work with sub micron movements.

Unfortunately Photobucket ruined the threads with pictures of my setup, but if you can handle the excessive advertisements, you can see the pictures here.
