IKEA Jansjo LED Light Modification

Some reference posts related to the LED use. https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41353 https://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40999&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 Had a IKEA Jansjo LED light clamp break, decided to look at the possibility of modifying the base t...

Update on this Godox LED light. Below are images of the light disassembled to study the design. Note the case is a heavy extruded aluminum frame and the massive copper cored heat sink the LED COB directly mounts on. The copper core resides inside a larger 90mm diameter finned heatsink which has a 95...

Another option worth considering that works with the iMac & PC like the Stackshot, and also Smartphones, is the Wemacro Rail, probably one of the better overall values in focus stacking rails available.

Thanks Rik, was thinking this zigzag as result of hot pixel, not a post processing function.

Isn't the "zigzagged" caused by a hot pixel that is fixed in the sensor? If, so then each image would not have a zigzag but only a a hot pixel at a fixed location in the sensor. The zigzag is the result of stacking, thus zigzag correction should NOT be applied to each image, only to the image render...

Looks like a great location (except maybe traffic induced vibration) with lots of access within walking distance.

Good luck and stay safe.

...We did a quick "hands on" test here that required 1.6 seconds exposure of a 220 lumen LED illumination for proper exposure, so for a 10ms exposure would require 35200 lumens... Hi Mike, How are you measuring lumens ? Hi Saul, This is from the specification on the light, then somewhat confirmed b...

This seems OK, at a quick glance. Agree an interesting result. As you've noted everything depends on lambda, the wavelength of light, which is constant regardless of the subject, lens or sensor/pixel size. Lambda does vary with color and material medium tho. This is why electron microscopes have suc...

Godox 150W Video LED Light

We've received the Godox 150W 16,000 lumen 5600K LED Video light here at Mike's Labs, and did some quick tests to verify the output. This is the brightest continuous source light I've ever seen, like looking at a Xeon strobe that is continuous!! This light is a standard studio type mount and uses th...

...pn diode junction can be used with a DVM as a crude light meter ... Yep, during soviet occupation we had very limited electronic part supply - so , instead sensors we used Russian transistors , filed their cap tops off...it was better than photo resistors (which you couldn't get also). Interesti...

Saul, I've found that any pn diode junction can be used with a DVM as a crude light meter in a pinch. LEDs work well because they have a large pn diode junction, a silicon diode like the 1N4148 also works but not as sensitive as the LEDs. I checked a few clear, red, amber, green & blue 5mm LEDs, the...

...I was pleasantly surprised to find the Cree XPE LED in the IKEA light... Yes, but Aliexpress, Ebay etc. is different thing. Totally agree, you roll the dice with things on eBay. I've never purchased anything from Aliexpress, so can't comment. A quality distributer like DigiKey or Mouser would be...
