This is another very interesting set of observations that coincides with Miljenko's tests. Although we usually use a wide lens for the reversed front lens of a combo, a longer front lens is likely to have a flatter field. I have found that reversing a fast 100-150mm lens on an even longer lens give...

After owning about a dozen Componon 28/4s and a few SK 28/2.8s, 35/2.8s and 35/4s I have never seen a wide angle componon perform like this. For reference see this test: https://www.closeuphotography.com/4x-lens-test-part-3 Turns out the performance of the componons when stacked are completely diffe...

Hi Ray,

Just came across a Schneider T2 to C-mount adapter and the ID of the C-mount side, the smooth inside bore, is 22mm ID.

Let me know if you want it, it's yours, but its going to be a tight fit but other C-mount adapters might work maybe?

Found this translation:

Zylinderkörper, noun: cylinder body

FYI Schneider Optics refers to these as industrial mount in the US.

I have also seen the 4/40 and 4/28 in a thicker heavy duty lens barrel.

Rafcamera can make it for sure That is usually my first choice when I don't have something in-hand but Raf can take time. Chinese adapters are less $ but I find more and more that the threads only meet specs maybe 50% of the time lately. Too many of my Chinese adapters end up in the garbage in the ...

Stacking Low Cost Enlarger Lenses For High-End Image Quality

Just picked up some new-in-the-box SK Componon lenses, 4/28, 4/40 for $50 ea. (I know thats not that very cheap for Componons but at least the seller included free shipping and they are new) Hopefully these will work well reversed in lens stacked combinations. I did try one combination and it looked...

Hi Ray,

If nothing better comes up a Thorlabs SM1 threaded coupler sleeve is 23.5 ID.

Metal shim tape could close the gap.

Item: SM1T10 - SM1 (1.035"-40) Coupler, External Threads, 1" Long

As I understand it less pixels at greater pitch can give better quality and colour rendition than the winner of the sales megapixel contest. Is the 2.4 µm pixel pitch you quote considered good or bad? Thank you so much for your time and helpful assistance. Generally speaking larger pixel sensors gi...

Hi Robert, I would like to ask you what is the most important advantage of the pushing down of the Mitty 10x ? And, is it better to use a TL with a shorter focal length or to use the normal TL but with the shorter length of the tube (TL<->sensor)? BR, ADi The Mitutoyo 10x image was just about perfe...

Hi MC,

Looks great! Even the corners look very good, especially the last crop, top left?

Good work!

Hi Adi, I just posted some results for the 10x M Plan with the Raynox but I have to admit that I did not note the sensor to subject distances with the Raynox 125  http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38363 I promise to take better notes next time I have one on the test setup. ...

Hi Andy You might want to try these lenses reversed on the front of one of the system lenses. Also you would get very good results using the flash but you will need to use a diffuser to improve the quality of the light and to prevent the front of the lens from blocking the un-diffused light. Too bad...

10x Objective Test: Mitutoyo M Plan Vs 3 Nikon Objectives

I have some new test results to share, this time at 10x magnification. After receiving a new 10x objective last week I decided to run a few tests to compare: -Mitutoyo M Plan 10x against 3 Nikon 10x objectives that I have on hand -Thorlabs ITL200 in different configurations -Mitutoyo 10x and Nikon C...

Looking good Mike. You just reminded me how behind I am on all of my projects Still have a Mitutoyo QV scope sitting in the garage under a tarp, I sold the QV 1x objective that it came with for $340 that covered the cost of the entire Scope. Everything on the scope is powered and it comes with 6 Nik...

Very nice shot. These spiders are a lot of fun to photograph, but they are not always willing to cooperate. Sometimes it can help if you can give them a little snack to distract 'em while you shoot. In this case I fattened her up with 4-5 winged termites so she was fat and happy to model for a litt...
