I assume your floor is concrete? Mine are wood and it's pointless to try to use a tripod and table!! What's the subject, and magnification? Is it by chance so "really light" like butterfly scales, that a flash is making it twitch? Just out of curiosity, is this effect similar to that of photons on ...

Topic: Generic Shutter Release Cable for Wemacro?

Hi, you might want to change the order before it's shipped. The wemacro uses 2.5mm cables, not 3.5mm. Of course, you can pick a 2.5-2.5 adapter for probably $2 or something. Before you posted this, I went back and looked at the order and it doesn't actually SAY "3.5mm", so it might just be a 2.5mm....

Yes you can. https://www.wemacro.com/?product=shutter-release-cable-3n-nikon Wemacro uses a "thinner than typical 3.5mm" connector, don't know the actual name. I guess it's called "2.5mm"? A quick Amazon search yielded results. I'll ask William and get back to you. I used a generic one for my Wemac...

Generic Shutter Release Cable for Wemacro?

I just ordered myself a Canon 80D.

I know that the 80D and my T4i use different shutter release cables.

Can I use a generic 3c Canon shutter release cable from Amazon or do I need the cable offered by Wemacro?

Hi mawyatt, I don't use any of my older tube lens setups anymore, I've switched to these because they have much better lens support with the multiple clamps, which BTW are both beautifully machined. The MJKZZ clamps are ~12mm thick and the Wemacro are ~15.5mm thick. The MJKZZ main body is comprised...

I can't speak too highly of the Wemacro. I work nights. It's very convenient for me to be able to set up a 200-300 deep stack and go to bed. When I get up, I just have to pull the card and import the images into Elements for post, export them as tiffs and run them through Zerene. If flashes can't ke...

Not a stupid question; my vertical setup flips to horizontal as needed. But I suspect his set up has more features which could be optimized for one or the other orientation. Rather than flip mine, I add or remove the vertical beam as required. Of course mine is only "portable" in the same sense tha...

Very nice set-up. I do see one point that can be improved though. You mentioned that wireless sucks your camera battery. That means you don't have an AC power supply for your camera? Having an external power source is a huge convenience, since you never have to think about batteries again. I just k...

I actually ended up using the capability this morning, since the object I was photographing was taller and hence the near end was closer to the lens than the previous one.

Re: Flash units for Micro work

Am using a D750 Nikon. Have an SB-700 unit but need two more to create all round lighting. Ideas ? Not expensive flash units and how would I set all 3 up to fire simultaneously ? I guess they have to be compatible to the D750 or maybe not ? Can someone give me some ideas / thoughts , instruction he...

Something to consider with the Weamcro rail is the sides accept standard ARCA clamps. This allows an easily movable stage for coarse focus without having to remove and rebolt the rail and only raises the rail attachment to the bar ~10mm. I use this method with Wemacro and THK rails and it's very st...

Thank you My "canopies" are very much like your cups.. except I used "Kebab" sticks instead of toothpicks :D I once accidentally bought a package of these instead of disposal chop sticks when I was in a hurry. I've thought about using them for a similar purpose, but so far, PVC structures seem like...

This looks really nice, except they state on 80/20 that " All 80/20 bearings are designed for compression loads only and not intended to support hanging loads." Not sure what this means regarding using it vertically and they don't provide any specs I could find. Did you verify that this linear bear...

Good you're happy... would be nice to have a wider / complete view... I was trying to keep the bodies and burning wreckage out of the shot, which I mostly did. The living room looks like the aftermath of the Battle of Kursk. Once I get most of the junk stored or thrown out, I'll take better picture...

Good you're happy... would be nice to have a wider / complete view... can you provide the name / SKU for that part Ray is mentioning?. I suppose it's the same that is bellow the elevator in the horizontal beam... If you're referring to the linear bearing on which the Wemacro is mounted it's this, a...
