Experimenting with new lens
I bought a Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 105mm2.8G ED VR lens to use for photographing my larger mineral specimens. As I have not completed the setup for that, I gave it a try outside today. Bruce aragonite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. While these crystals appear hexagonal when looking down the c axis, this is caused by twinning. I have an older computer that I upgraded to Vista and had no problem with the Photoshop CS2. I do not come close to using all of its features, so maybe I have been lucky. Thanks for the kind comments. The lighting is done with a 9 lamp LED ring light which is diffused and two 19 lamp LED spots which I position to the best effect. I may or may not use a diffuser on the spots. Exposures typically run from 1/3 second to 1/20 second depending on subject and magnification...
