Re: Surirella lacrimula
Hi Jim, Great photo , exceptional details ! How do you like this Nikon 40x 0.95 objective ? BR, Saul Thanks Saul. The Nikon 40x 0.95 CFN PlanApo is the best 40x I have, so I can't complain. My DIC system is limited to 20, 40, and 100 objectives. My Nikon PlanApo CFN 60/1.40 performed poorly with th...

Re: Actinoptychus heliopelta(?)
Thanks Rik. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from the Nikon 'phot' DIC models which use a long shear DIC. An Optiphot in my case.

... struggling. Seems soft and has lots of artifacts. Just talking to myself. Looks like I've forgotten how to image.

Actinoptychus heliopelta(?)
I've been working on getting my Optiphot Biological up and running again. It's been a while since I've done much imaging. Note the question mark in the subject. This image stack was done with an old Panasonic GH-3, no relay lens, and projected directly onto the camera sensor.

Re: Nikon MM-11 on eBay
I have three MM-11's. Outstanding and solid. Very customizable too. Lots of lens/objectives/scan lens options. Can be motorized. I don't have that particular stage. The pinion gear can be replaced and more than likely the problem, IF, there is a problem. If the other brass gears are damaged, then th...

So, to jump in here, what's the best setup and lens for the 50R, for 1:1, or maybe a little less?

Re: Help! Macro rail minimum 1µm step size is too big.
I expect to get my new rail very soon and will use some of your test procedures on it. I also plan to try my micron-accurate dial gauge for a few tests (both rail and gauge mounted on an optical bench). The gauge only has a travel range of 1mm, but could be useful for some quick ballpark measuremen...

Re: Help! Macro rail minimum 1µm step size is too big.
Anyway, I am warming to the MJKZZ Ultra, or maybe even the Pro. If all else fails, it sounds like I'd still get a better macro rail overall. I'll contact them with relevant questions. Thanks again. Looking forward to what you end up with for a horizontal rig. I'm looking for the same thing. With my...
