Re: MJKZZ Extreme system and ...
"How do single shots look? Does a single shot look as sharp as the Live View window?" I preview using an external field monitor - very sharp - HDMI to monitor. Single shots can look fine, but the rail is not traveling the full distance or the correct distance or one or the other. It often doesn't f...

Re: MJKZZ Extreme system and ...
Well I"m pretty much using the same practices I have used successfully for 5x - very stable platform, standalone building with concrete floor (no activity/vibrations of any kind - it's a barn on the property and I leave the building when starting the stack), Mirror Up, delays at every step to settl...

Re: MJKZZ Extreme system and ...
I am very impressed by this Xtreme Pro rail! Thanks, Ray. I have recently acquired a 50x and so far have not gotten any decent images. But that is definitely user error and probably, to some extent, a hardware issue, so trying to find a good solution for both... Quality of the rail is probably 5th ...

Re: MJKZZ Extreme system and ...
Here's the blurb on the MJZKK Xtreme Pro system. Still curious if anyone's used this with a 50 or 100x and what their experience was: https://www.mjkzz.de/collections/focus-stacking-rails/products/extreme-pro-rail-kit-incl-usb-controller?variant=35879524925596 Hmm, I did not see this rail before. I...

Re: MJKZZ Extreme system and ...
Another option is to build your own system using surplus rails. Indeed that is the path I took, with THK linear guides, and can certainly shoot at 50x with no issues. I was thinking exactly the same about the mjkzz ultra. The wider and longer base of those 4 ball carriages with the spindel right in...

Re: MJKZZ Extreme system and ...
I have not used either the mjkzz ultra nor the stonemaster systems, but I can make some general comments regarding their construction that might be helpful. The mjkzz ultra system is built around an industrial rail system. The system is not specified, but the picture shows something that looks like ...

Re: Canon DSLR discounts
I purchased the 5DSR twice and sent it back both times. Was hoping for an improved IQ vs my HRT2i but the performance was basically on-par. It has more MP, and I expected a tailor-made / much newer processing engine to perform better, but alas it was not the case. You're probably wondering "why did ...

Re: Micro-Symmar 3.5x
are these results to be expected based on the MTF's in the spec sheet?... the micro-symmar 3.5x when compared with the macro-symmar 5.6/80 1x show significantly reduced performance (results that is at the rated/designed magnification scale for each lens). or am I reading this incorrectly? MTF curve...

Re: Micro-Symmar 3.5x
The king of 3.5x still goes to the Rayfact I suppose, which needs 600mm of tubing. Or some lens combo, which would need no extension at all.... I'm not sure if any combo giving 3-3.5x magnification has been found with coverage beyond FF. I tested the RF3p5x out to 86mm IC and it actually improved s...

Re: Schneider locking screws
So far only 3 folks have signed up (two each) for the thumbscrew group order, so not enough yet for the minimum. I'm still hoping for more folks so PM me if you are interested. I'm going to buy 2 so we need several more folks.

Re: Micro-Symmar 3.5x
Yes, staring at the animation I agree the 2.8 shows finer detail, but worse CA and contrast.rjlittlefield wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2020 8:37 amIn the animation, it seems clear to my eyes that the f/2.8 image is showing finer detail, but the overall contrast is a little lower.
Do you see it differently?
