A fairly ridiculous contraption when he could get twice the resolution from a polarizing microscope. It negates the whole point of using a full frame pixel shifting camera whose full frame isn't even covered by the low NA objective. Lets see a single shot instead of a large stitch meant to wow with ...

Special objective for Fluorescence use with other oil immersion objectives. Leitz made an NPL Fluotar oil with an na of 0.45 just for this reason. There is also a version in phase contrast for the leitz. Phase Fluorescence and DIC Fluorescence used to be two techniques that were in vogue right aroun...

http://www.photomacrography.net/forum/userpix/954_IMG_0940_1.jpg This is the exploded view of the inner optical prisms of an early 50's Zeiss Jena Seidentoph binocular head. The glass cylinder is the phase corrector element. It has no diopter power, just a refractive index matching block to fill th...

Thats because its a lens, not a phase corrector

n phase corrector on those cylindrical glass tubes in heads and prism turrets. If they were not there, with Pol and DIC, the light speed would be different from the path with a prism.

Well, thanks for the advice. I do like the Sony products, especially the A7II, etc. My first Canon full frame capture on my Axiophot Pol with the Canon 5D MKII, was very impressive for a jpeg right out of the camera. Plus I find the free software much better than most everything available. But for t...

Chris, it's a nice feature, but not a deal breaker as I always focus on the computer monitor, or laptop.

Canon Eos camera question

I own a Canon T3i apsc camera that I use for most of my microscopy photography. I realize this is now a fairly old model, but I'm happy with the resolution and ease of use. Naturally I always use live view and efcs. Is there a newer eos that shows better dynamic range or any improvement in sensor te...

For fluorescence. Light transmission into near UV is more important than field flatness. Try the Leitz NPL Fluotar 1.3 oil instead, a much better lens.

Nikon Biophot Stacking Focus Mount

Perfect for precision stacking. 1 micron divisions just like Optiophot mounts, except much more robust and precise bearing race. The bearings are needle bearings in a flat and angular race for stability. Completely relubricated with a NOS fine adjustment pinion shaft installed. Can be supplied with ...

That's a type 3 for the Ortholux 2 and all other microscopes that use the small bayonet lamp house. What did you modify the mount to?
